What about monitoring your AVC then, when you are about to hit the limit, cease your contributions and put the equivalent money into your SIPP instead?1

This is what I do, i.e. I forecast what my AVC could grow to when I reach age 65 (from my monthly contributions plus investment growth) and if/when it looks like I will hit my TFLS I will put the equivalent amount into a SIPP.
