Refund to closed credit card

Hi, I have had to cancel our holiday we booked last year due to a change in circumstances. The refund went to a cancelled credit card, its been 3 months and still can't remember who I had it with. I know the last 4 digits and that is all, it over 1k refund.

Is there a way to find out who I've had cards with? (Used credit karma but its not clear)

How about asking the 'refunder' for the first 8 digits.  That should enable you to identify the card issuer.

If the number starts with a 3 it's Amex, 4 it's Visa and 5 it's Mastercard.  You can use a BIN-checker website to narrow it down.

Time to start looking through all your emails for clues. Maybe look at internet banking to see if you have payees still set up, reference will be the full credit card number

Credit Karma / Clear Score or Experian all show the cards you have held for the last 6 years

A closed account would either be held internally or returned

Why's it not clear? 

It should be showing you each account by card issuer, the date the account was opened and each month data was received. Your looking for an account that you no longer hold but which was still receiving data around when you booked the holiday last year

You could start by contacting the cards that you know you had but are now closed and ask if any of them have had a refund of £1000+
