Motorbility

Would anyone be able to advise me please?
My son who lives with us has a medical condition called Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) and receives the lowest rate of pip for mobility.
He has to walk with a crutch and has special orthotics (shoes) and cannot walk far without being in pain. He is waiting for an operation to try and correct his ankle but this could take a few more months.
He has been sharing my car to get him places but now I need it myself for work.
Would he be able to get a car on the motorbility scheme?

Where we live is a fair distance from any shops and bus stops so he needs transport.

Only Enhanced Mobility awards can be exchanged for a Motability car.
If he feels he meets the criteria he can report worsening of health and be re assessed.

They would look at the entire award again.
Remember if someone cannot do an activity reliably, repeatedly, safely and in a reasonable time frame for more than 51% of the time, they are treated as unable to do the activity at all.1 -
For Motability he will need the highest rate of mobility which is Enhanced. https://www.motability.co.uk/how-it-works/allowances1

To add the award needs to be at least 12 months, as your son is waiting for a op might only get short award.

slightly less short answer - No as you need to recieve the highest rate of mobility component to the eligible to access the scheme0
