Lazy-boy Leather Sofa

Hi there, we bought an expensive leather recliner sofa from ScS 2 years ago. Just last week the surface of the leather is coming off from the headrest where my partner sits. We had an assessor from the insurance company come out and say it's caused by natural oils in hair and is fair wear and tear. ScS say the same thing!

Given that goods should be expected to last a reasonable amount of time, and this is a £3000 sofa that hasn't lasted longer than 2 years, can anyone give me some advice on whether this is worth pursuing?

I'm expecting we'll need an independent assessors statement and small claims court!

We had EXACTLY the same thing with a G-Plan sofa, only 8 months into ownership.  The insurance assessor said natural hair oils so not covered as it wasn't sudden and accidental, it happened over time!
We took it to the ombudsman but they didn't uphold our complaint.

We didn't really understand the Ombudsman process and would maybe have had a different outcome if we'd had an independent assessment, it was just our word against theirs.

Never buying an expensive leather sofa or any kind of furniture insurance again!
