The above is the procedure for visits to people in receipt of working age benefits and has existed in one form or another for at least 50 years. If you recall, I posted in the thread you linked to and said that I used to be a visiting officer for what was the old DHSS. We had a book called the Visiting Officers Guide and the above you have quoted was, in not the exact same words, in that book and the book itself was from the 1960s.

I know it's hard to convince you otherwise, but given your age and the benefits you are receiving (State Pension and PIP) it wouldn't be the DWP who were knocking on your door. It could have been anyone. I get a few people from telecom and energy companies knocking on my door trying to sell me something and if they don't get an answer they'll sometimes call back.
Thanks Robbie64.    There are so many youtube videos on line at the moment saying that there is a DWP campaign to make unnannounced visits on PIP claimants.   Do you think these accounts are fake?

Whether the accounts are fake or not is frankly irrelevant.. they're not helping you... you're looking wherever you can to find evidence this is the DWP visiting which is unlikely and that is all we can tell you.... classical anxiety disorder. Either you find some way of getting someone (or you) to answer the door or you continue to suffer this excessive anxiety over who has been calling around. There isn't really any alternative I can think of.. although since you're only claiming PIP I suppose the nuclear answer is to call them and ask if they've been sending people to your home.. at which point they will surely say there is no record of such and will that fix your issue? Can you call them today... might be a bit of a wait for agent... but they will see your records and any recent letters... if you cannot make the call can you ask someone else to be with you and make the call?

Ball is in your court really...and reading on the internet or viewing youtube videos will not solve this matter

"Still mystified, no letter yet, no phone call." - because it isn't likely the DWP or any government department that can contact you in several ways other than sending people to your door... you're trying to convince yourself it is the DWP and when the evidence doesn't fit you remain of the same belief. Only you can change that.

Well, I do feel rather reassured now from my enquiries on line, so it does seem to have helped.  It is just that yes, I am very anxious and also a perfectionist, and thorough.    So, thank you.    I will now just rest in the reassurance I have gained.  xxx
