Santander Debit Card

My Santander debit card is valid until 2030. Today I received a new pin in a post for a debit card with a different number. I haven't requested a new card.
Rang Santander and they said that a new card was on the way and that it was a replacement and they were just replacing some cards.
Has anyone else experienced randomly being issued with a new card? I have checked online and all looks fine with the account. The only card showing is the "new one" that I don't have. I have frozen that until I have it, just in case. I'm hoping my existing card will not stop working in the meantime, since it does not appear in the manage cards section.

Thanks. We have a full 123, so nothing is changing for us currently.

Presumably they've done 99% of these by now for cards that have typical expiry dates (I have seen stories of debit cards being valid for like best part of 20 years, but that's probably the exception rather than the rule) and this is to finish that project off?0

I've had my card & pin unexpectedly replaced by Barclays. I assumed that perhaps there had been a compromise somewhere and this was being done as a precaution.0

No change in PIN number0 -
Thanks all. It’s a mastercard, so not part of the visa replacement exercise. Will wait to see if a card turns up.0
