Dreadful reviews since booking

Booked a holiday with Love Holidays for sons wedding, 4 adults and 2 small children. Since booking hotel reviews have been alarming, 5 star resort in disrepair, mouldy rooms, slippy outdoor area and broken tiles to start with. We hoped to change as holiday 8 months away, they said ok and we paid £168 to do this, after the booking not being updated I contacted them to be told room type no longer available and there would be a charge in excess of £1450 to have upgraded rooms. I queried this and have been told that there is no availability at all now at this hotel. However after going on the website to make a new booking the hotel is showing availability with all room types and I am unsure how to proceed - advice appreciated

Have you put your findings to them yet?0

Yes, I am awaiting their latest response. So disappointed as I believed that the booking was ok as they took payment for amendment on 20th August and this morning I chased due to it not showing in manage my booking. To be told it would cost £1462.78 more now, then after querying this was told no longer available. I have sent evidence of being able to book via their own website too.0

And now they are saying there is no availability, you are still desperate to stay there? In that case, why don't you go back to LoveHolidays and say "it's ok we will stay in the room allocated". After all, one person's bad review is another person's "oh well, it's a cracked tile and someone had wet feet, hardly my idea of hell".There may well be other rooms showing as available to the public but maybe LoveHolidays are only allocated a certain number, or even certain rooms and they can't then allocate you one's that are sold to the public? Why don't you ring them and ask them that, and say there are rooms showing as available, and see what they say. If they can't accomodate you anywhere else then ask for a refund and find another Hotel/package. If it's 8 months away and in April, it's probably not going to be a problem in terms of availablity2

Pretty sure OP is trying to rebook at a different hotel, not the same one!ButterCheese said:Nananoodleman said:Booked a holiday with Love Holidays for sons wedding, 4 adults and 2 small children. ok, just sounded like the £1450 was for upgraded rooms - that didn't sound like a different Hotel0 -
Hotel bookings are a complex process involving many middlemen. It's very possible for a hotel to be "sold out" via one route but have availability via another.0

Can you not do a chargeback with your credit card?
They are clearly scammy as they charged you to change and whatnot and then they tell you they are booked out so the above response is moot. They are not working with you to change anything, just taking money. I would do a chargeback and explain this in a review.0 -
Thank you for your reply, yes it is another hotel that I was hoping to change to, which they then said was no longer available in a standard room so would have to upgrade to a jacuzzi room in the new hotel. I queried the price as the website showed availability in all room types and I had already paid an admin fee and difference in price charge which wasn't discounted from the new quote in upgraded rooms, then was told no rooms available at all, when website still shows availability.ButterCheese said:eskbanker said:

Yes it is a different hotel and the available rooms were searched for on Love Holidays own website, which is what surprised me. I have put my concerns to them for clarification but have not received a reply as yet. Another issue (my fault for being hasty!) my mother in law has booked into the hotel I was hoping to switch to, it was 20th august I requested a change and they took payment on that date saying confirmation within 72 hours, it was only today I checked the booking to see it hadn't been updated so I contacted them to be told only upgraded rooms left, I would have booked this but I asked them to check price as I had already paid an amendment fee an price difference fee so thought this would be deducted due to no changes made as yet, then I was told no availability at all. and as previously mentioned availability showing on their own website so this left me confused, still waiting to hear from them.ButterCheese said:Nananoodleman said:Booked a holiday with Love Holidays for sons wedding, 4 adults and 2 small children.
