EDF Meter

My in-home display stopped working two months ago. Since most people I know don’t have theirs on but the meter still sends the readings, I decided not to chase for a new one, as it looks like they charge. I received the new bill last Friday and it looked like they only charged for the Standing Charge, I pay by DD and am usually in credit, even during winter, in case we have a cold spell (personal choice to over pay). I did call EDF and the very nice lady said it did look like the meter had stopped sending the reading, they would try a reboot from their end, if this did not work they would arrange an onsite engineer to come, might need a new meter, mine was installed in 2023 when my HA installed solar panels and Quantum Storage heaters. Does anyone know how they will work out what to charge for those two months? When I look at the EDF site, that is showing my daily usage and the price showing for the two months does a close compare to last years cost, so looks like something is working. If they just take (what looks like) an extra £73 off my current credit I’d say it is about right, I have hot water by a tank so need it during summer as well as winter. Just wondered what I needed to keep an eye out for, so not overcharged?

Read the meter yourself -  watch out for the decimal  point - and give them to Edf.

Re the Solar I'm with Edf and have to give them the export reading from the meter -  do you have to do that ?

Had not been asked to but my elderly neighbours daughter is enquiring about who, if anyone, gets the benefit of exporting excess power back to the grid. When the panels were installed it looked like a vanity project, that the HA got money to do. Only 6 small panels on each roof going into our bungalows. I told the daughter I just assumed that IF anyone was getting anything then it was the HA as nothing had been said to the tenants when they were installed. The Quantum’s on the other hand are brilliant.

You won't be asked to -  you have to apply. It needs paperwork from the installer.  Check via your local councillor what happens in your case.

Export is only part of the benefit -  the power generated from Solar helps to reduce your consumption.  I've got a small array of 6 panels facing North and reckon that reduces my consumption by about 500 kWh - that's about £125.    The Solar I export is also worth about £125.

Scroll through the buttons on the meter display and you will see one marked EXP.

The reading you give to your supplier for what you use is marked IMP

We have a meter for the Solar. My other meter has two IMP one for Day and one for Night as we have E7.

Generally the party paying for the panels is the one that gets the cash, the supply they are tied in to benefits from the free electric.   As for no meter reads being received you will need to read the meter yourself and submit the readings just like you used to do in the old days before everyone was brainwashed by the smart meter false advertising. Your meter display is working ?

On the EDF website it tells me it is working but the numbers have not moved for days. 9064 & 1508. Meter balance is changing -£2.74 is now -£4.11 On the EDF web site it tells me Total Electricity for August is £41.23 (£29.32 Energy £11.91 SC) with obviously three days to go and the last two days not showing yet. So something is changing and that is what I would be expecting to pay for a month as this time of year. I'm sure it will eventually work itself out, if I have not heard from EDF in two weeks,(on holiday next week) then I will call again to check they don't think it is fixed.

Are the 9064 and 1508  the readings on EDF's website or are they the readings on your meter? It's not clear from your post.
Your meter will also have an EXP reading. What's that saying?
