Aerlingus deposit / fare changes

Hello, just looking some advice.
About a month ago we paid a deposit for flights to Mexico with aerlingus for next March. The total was €1800 and the deposit was €500. I went to pay the remaining balance yesterday and saw that the exact same flights are now €1500 total. They say I have to pay the original fare, not the current one. Very frustrating as you don't get rewarded for booking early.
Do you know my rights? Is there any way I can fight to pay the lower fare? Doesn't mention fare price changes on their T&C on website.
Thanks, Maria

How would you have felt if the flights were now showing as €2100? Would you have felt honour-bound to pay the extra €300?
It's the nature of airfare pricing, it varies with time. You've paid a "premium" for securing your flights for the date/time you wanted at the price you were willing to pay at that time.3 -
The only way to get the lower fare is to cancel your original booking and rebook. As said above, would you have been happy to pay the additional cost if the fare had increased? Moral of the story - once you have booked don't check prices.1

...and lose the deposit on the original booking?TELLIT01 said:The only way to get the lower fare is to cancel your original booking and rebook.0 -
Yea deposit is non refundable, which I understand, just wanted to put it towards the new lower fare. Ah well! It is what it is. Was just wondering if there was some way round it, as at one stage easyjet do / did offer a refund if prices drop after booking. Thanks for input guys0

Where do you get a reward for booking early? Sometimes its cheaper in return for committing early, as the airline has some income it can count on. Other times its more expensive as last minute if they have empty seats they may as well fill them for cheap.Melmel said:Very frustrating as you don't get rewarded for booking early.

You have the right to the flight you paid for at the price you agreed. You don't have a right for the price for others to remain the same or increase.0
