Ignoring the last couple of days, are we not at an all-time high right now? And that is the problem - with the looming debt crisis markets are looking a bit shaky.
    Which all-time high?

There is always a new all-time high round the corner.  With a few bumps in the road, of course 🫣

I don’t think you understand the concept that most stocks spend most of their time at or very close to an all-time high. it’s not a very difficult concept to understand. It’s how markets generally work the line goes from the bottom left to the top right.

thanks everyone for the input on this thread. Everything is completed now and I’m pleased to say with the cashback on the switch I’m about £2500 up, I think it was a bit of luck to be honest the timing of everything I didn’t like not being in full control of buys and sale prices but converting into cash and waiting a few days was absolutely the right thing to do and ii and Aviva were both brilliant and fast

    Not according to this

"This week joins the 7% of days that have seen the S&P 500 hitting record highs.  That is the third largest share behind the 12% of days in which the index has been within 1% of a record high and the 8.5% of days when it is 1% to 2% below a record close.  Expanding out a bit more, the S&P 500 has spent 44% of trading days since 1952 within 5% of an ATH compared to just 40.5% of the time when the index has been down 10% or more from an ATH."
