Pet wellness plan help

Hi
every month my husband pays into a pet wellness scheme offered by our vet. One of the benefits is that they will deal directly with our insurer if we pay the first £100 of a claim.
Today we found our dog will need to see a vet- fairly uncomplicated claim, no health history at all.
The vet receptionist has informed us that they have decided not to honour that part of the scheme with pets any more yet it was recently renewed with no changes.

She’s likely to need major care as it seems likely to be cancer and we’ve maintained both insurance and plan deliberately at some cost to ensure it is available to her.
Apparently there is a sign at the vet but husband never goes into the office so wouldn’t know, should they not have informed us at renewal? They called us to try and sell an upgrade recently.
Thank you
We do get a small amount of top up benefits due to my carer status (he works) but we don’t have any charity covering this area who will help- I volunteered for a local rescue so sadly know that for certain.

Is it a monthly agreement or an annual one?0

If your pet is insured I'm not sure why you are mentioning there is no charity who will help?0

You say that dealing direct with insurers was ONE of the benefits of the wellness scheme, so presumably there are others?
I agree that on renewal, any changes should have been outlined, but surely the question is whether the plan remains good VFM?Signature removed for peace of mind0
