Morning folks and thanks GERS. We had evidence of overnight rain/drizzle too this morning and there was a beautiful rainbow when I got up. Now the sky is blue and the sun is shining so will see what the day brings. Yesterday I took my book out and got settled reading it in the sunshine. Alas I didn't last long as it was far too hot so back indoors I came
I finally got the front door washed down yesterday morning before it got too warm. I had looked at it in despair for long enough! I was tempted into trying to replicate a lunch I had enjoyed on one of our bus jaunts out. Halloumi gently fried in a honey and garlic sauce with salad atop a warmed flatbread.. It was a success so that will be made again. Chicken defrosting for tonight, I am waiting for inspiration to strike before I decide what to do with it.
Phone call from the caravan yesterday. All is well with DGD and she felt the swelling was going down as it was less painful than it was. Her bf had gone over for the day so obviously the relationship has survived after her week staying with them no doubt expecting to be waited on hand and foot! DD and youngest had been to Harrogate on Sunday for the food and drink festival. There was a lady from a previous Bake Off episode doing demonstrations but she had forgotten her name! They got free tickets for admission to Ripley Castle grounds which they had enjoyed on their way back.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all, be safe xx

Morning all, thanks Gers. We've had a bit of rain too, meant to have a bit more later then a decent afternoon. I can't remember the last time it rained.I had a busy day yesterday. Took DH his tea and toast up as it takes a while to get going with his crutches, meds, exercises etc. then took Ldog out.Rinse and repeat shortly
Then DS dropped me off at the food festival in town for an hour, I stocked up on picky food and cakes for expected visitors. Bumped into my dogfood man and his wife, so he made me show her some pics of Lendog. We all had a good chat, they were outside a pasty stall trying samples
and they recommended a special one created specially for the festival so I bought some for DH lunch. I succumbed and had half, very nice!
After that DB2 & family came to drop off my birthday present early as SiL is working tomorrow - we sat in the garden with some of the cake and a cold drink, it was very hot. I had to wait until after tea for another dogwalk. DS1 came with me and we walked down the trickle of a stream, under the trees where it was much cooler. Speaking of which we'd better get going.Probably roast chicken for tea, I had a delivery yesterday. Take care all.

Morning everyone
We've had some rain overnight too, it feels very warm already.
I'm off to visit eldest DD in Nuremberg for a few days, leaving at lunchtime. I'm all packed and ready to go and the cats have just been picked up by the cattery lady. I'll go down to mam and dads for a cuppa this morning.
I had a text early this morning from DD to say they were on the plane and ready to leave, hopefully little one has enjoyed it
Right, I'd better move...hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. We've had some rain overnight (not much, just a bit of drizzle) and today should be mainly sunny although there could be some thunder/showers late afternoon with top temps reaching 23 deg. It looks like being the last nice day for a while as, after today, the weather is set to be changeable and cooler.
I had a lovely BH BBQ with DS and his partner - good company and good food in their small courtyard that's very sheltered and a bit of a suntrap. We had alfresco bacon rolls yesterday morning and I arrived home at lunchtime with some cherry tomatoes they've grown. I was rather lazy for the rest of the day but did finish reading another book and got a bit more cross stitch done. Back to normal now and I think I've just about caught up with everyone's news. On the agenda for today is a second coat of paint on the hallway radiator and a use-up session of foodie bits from the fridge. Tea tonight will be some cooked gammon slices, mushrooms and spicy wedges.
@mehefin - I think you're right about having a plain bow tie with the waistcoat - pink or blue might depend on how adventurous you feel!
@AA - Ooh, Finnish food! That should be interesting.
@Scarlet - Choosing between speaking your mind and holding your tongue is indeed a very fine line to tread! I was always told that if you can't say anything good about someone then don't say anything at all but sometimes needs must - depending on the circumstances of course.
@Ruby - Not long to go before your break, hang on in there!
@TA - Glad to hear DGD is on the mend. DS lives in Harrogate and says the traffic is bad at the best of times with roadworks everywhere but is far worse when there are events on. And don't even mention the Gateway plans for around the bus station. Luckily he knows his way around!
@dp1 - Have a good time with DD in Nuremberg.
Right, it's time to get out the paint brush before I lose the will.Have a good day whatever your plans are, take care, hugs wherever needed. X

Hi everyone,
Chrisca I've changed all my non stick trays to stainless steel ones, mainly because we were worried about the little ones ingesting chemicals especially if the coating was damaged. I must admit we don't find that anything sticks any more than it did on the non stick so I would recommend the change.
We had a lovely lunch yesterday at a place near Baldock - Gotha Gardens. It's very small but the food is delicious, I had smoked salmon blinis followed by lemon tart, yum.
We were both very tired yesterday so didn't do a lot else, Steve is golfing this morning and I am going to scrub the kitchen.
Have a good day.

Morning all, we too have had some overnight rain but it's only damped the patio down, we need a lot more. Never thought I would be saying that !
Yesterday the DGC did sterling work but sadly my back lawn is mostly a dust bowl. I pottered around pruning plants and cutting the hydrangea back as it was bursting out past the side gate while DGS cut what little grass is left. I fed and watered the DGC all day and kept them going, but it must cost DD £'s just to feed them, I don't think I could afford to keep them, boy can they eat 🤣 I could rent them out I suppose just doing odd jobs !
This morning I have a sm delivery arriving which is all present and correct. I'll sort it and then take Dad's little bit up for him, he needs a bill paid too.
Tea tonight will be the leftover picky bits and salads from yesterday's tea.
dp1 and RedRuby have a lovely time on your hols.
Right enough from the waffler from Wales. Take care all.

Good morning and thanks for the start @Gers x Great job with the exercising x
Another beautiful sunrise here after a packed day in Seattle itself yesterday. We got the water taxi across then had coffee and pastries before boarding the monorail to the Space Needle. Great to see the city from 60 storeys up but only the brave youngsters enjoyed the glass floor 😳😮 We then visited the Museum of Pop Culture which was fab and had Mac n cheese at Beechers Handmade Cheese Co and ginger beer (various flavours) from Rachel’s Ginger Beer Co. It was incredibly hot so we stopped for beers along the waterfront. It reminded me very much of Boston but with an edgier vibe.Today we are having a slow day - paddle boarding and kayaking (not me) as most shops and restaurants shut on Vashon on Tuesdays. Tomorrow we leave here to stay one night in the city for a baseball game (go Mariners!) and Italian food, before heading for the mountains. Like I said - most definitely not an MSE week - food horrendously expensive here and to think we moan in the UK!!Sounds like an awful job @mehefin - definitely think the professionals spray that surface. Can you post another close up photo of the waistcoat so we can help with tie colour choice?Love the sound of the halloumi dish @TravellingAbuela mmmmmm
Enjoy your visit to Nuremberg @dp1 x
Right time for tea (bought Yorkshire tea with us - no substitute!!)
Have a good day all
