VW start button not working properly - is this covered by VW all in plan?
Hi,
I have a 2019 Tiguan which I bought last year. I also took out the VW all in plan which also covers repairs that are not wear and tear. I’ve never had to claim on it but for months now the start engine button hasn’t worked properly. I have to press it multiple times to start/shut off the engine.

I’ve got the car booked in with Arnold clark for a MOT next week and also mentioned this. They said they’d charge me £150 to look at the issue if VW won’t cover it - can anyone give me any advice if this is likely to be covered? Thanks

Switchgear is normally covered. A replacement switch seems to be £12 on eBay / Amazon if you DIY.0

Odds on it's the brake switch or user error not pressing the brake hard enough.Life in the slow lane0

born_again said:or user error not pressing the brake hard enough.I have this with my Citroen. If it has stood for a week or so, and the vacuum in the servo is insufficient, I need massive- literally pedal bending force to push the pedal far enough to trip the switch so that it will start.Possibly there is a slight leak somewhere that could be fixed, but I've never had occasion to press the brake on any other car before starting the engine, so I've no idea how long the vacuum is supposed to last.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

So you r paying £900 for this plan, you get free mot so why are you getting mot with Arnold Shark?
Your plan also includes Up to 2 years' Warranty (free of charge). So why pay A Shark anything?
Probably a fault with the switch.....maybe or key related - change the key battery. Start with obvious things.
AI Overview+17What Is The “Key Fob Battery Low” Alert + How to Fix ...To start a car with a dead key fob, put your foot on the brake and press the fob directly against the start/stop button, which allows the car to detect the fob's signal and start the engine. If this doesn't work, replace the fob's battery, as a low battery is the most common cause of the issue. If the battery isn't the issue, check your vehicle's owner's manual for a specific backup slot for the fob or a different procedure. When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you.
