  • In a recent case on here, it was reprted that POPLA ruled in favour of the motorist against MET Parking Stansted ..... quoting BY-LAWS

However POPLA is a hit and miss setup introduced by the BPA disaster

    Update:

I received a debt collection email from Debt Recovery Plus. (I'm not worried)
I haven't submitted a POPLA appeal yet because of my chaotic life.

    The fine issuer: MET Parking

I have read the NEWBIE thread and I have a few questions to make sure I understood correctly. It doesn't seem like they're linked to an airport so I'm assuming this is a UKPC.

I only received the first email stating I owed them 80 pounds because I overstayed and haven't cleared my plate at Starbucks. Is this considered an NTK? How do I recognize one? I've received nothing that clearly states that.

This parking lot is like most parking lots at retail centers with an entrance and many parking bays. I'm very cautious as to where I park because I HATE getting fined and I did not spot anything, not even in the parking bay itself. We didn't even exit the car because we were looking for a specific place and ended up leaving to go to another retail center so we didn't even benefit from the spot.

How do I prove signage wasn't appropriate? I don't have any pictures.

Would the No Keeper Liability apply to me as well even though I received the fine in the mail?
I'm pretty certain I haven't disclosed the identity of the driver because I had already read posts on here regarding that.

Check the expiry date for your POPLA code as debt letters usually arrive after a POPLA appeal is rejected or the POPLA code is not used to log an appeal and expires.
  • I can still usde the code - I haven't opened it but it recognized it and told me to confirm the MET Parking is the issuer.

I think it will say it's expired when you do "open it".
You won't find "Parking Lot" on any paperwork or claim it's a car park in the UK not America, sorry but you need to get things correct.

It was a few weeks ago now, best to search for  MET PARKING threads.

And you want pictures of the signs at this scam site, play the video and pose when then the signs are shown, do a screenshot

It will work but only until day 33.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I tried submitting but it unfortunately expired. I read that I could ask MET for a new POPLA Verification number. Is that true?  I have a really solid appeal document.

I read that I could ask MET for a new POPLA Verification number. Is that true?
Where you read that did it not say about the 'extenuating circumstances' eg. code expired for reasons entirely outside your control which you can evidence.
    • Where do I find my 10 digit verification code?

You should have received your verification code when you were sent your rejection notice from the parking operator, typically via post or email. If you could have received it by email, you should check your spam/junk folder.

If you haven’t received your code, you can contact the parking operator who will provide one but only if you appealed the parking charge notice within 28 days of receiving it.

If a parking operator rejects an appeal you made and you did so within this 28 day window, it is a requirement of the British Parking Association's code of practice that they issue a verification code. If the operator refuses to issue a code in these circumstances you can contact the British Parking Association.

      • My code has expired however I still want to appeal to POPLA?

The 10 digit verification code issued by the Parking Operator to enable access to POPLA is valid for 28 days from the date of issue. Once this timeframe expires the code will no longer grant access to our service. We will only accept a code which has expired in extenuating circumstances such as:

        • The appellant was in hospital.

        • The appellant was abroad.

        • The appellant was undertaking armed service (army, navy, air force) away from their domestic residence.

        • The appellant must have been in one of these situations for the full duration or the vast majority of the time their code was valid.

If you feel that you meet the above criteria and would like us to assess accepting your appeal please provide us with the reason for the verification code expiry along with proof of the situation, which could include:

        • Letters from the hospital/GP to reflect their stay

        • Flight details/boarding passes

        • Information around any military duties or tour taken place

Once you have this information please email it to poplalateappeals@popla.co.uk

Yes, it does say that. I must say that nowhere in their last communication do they say there is the possibility to appeal to POPLA. There is just a line with written Popla Number: #####

        So what should I do?
