Good morning, thanks Gers.
It's a grey start here, dry though. Getting chilly in the evenings now.
I ordered a shopping trolley yesterday ( not tartan!) It's plain black and insulated, I'll pick it up today. It's a click and collect at the little Sains up the road, so quite handy.
Visiting a friend this morning, with a bit of shopping, and this afternoon, another friend has asked me to go with her to look round her new house - she will get the keys today and wants to go round again now it's empty. She was widowed last year and wanted a smaller house, so this is it. I'm looking forward to seeing it. It's only about ,5 minutes walk away.
That's it for today, I haven't read back on yesterday yet, I'll do that later and pop back.
See you later folks, take care.11 -
Morning Gers, morning allUp and out early this morning, dropping DH to hospital for check up after op and me to pick up hearing aids.Blue sky at the moment, hope it's a bit nicer than yesterday. Slept with the duvet on last night for the first time in ages, felt quite chilly.Have a good day all x12

Morning again. I'm already missing the early light here, it's my favourite part of the day.My lovely gardener did a great job yesterday, cleared lots of dead flowering plants away, weeding and planting four new ones to help fill the large space at the side wall. She also takes away the debris which is a bonus. I had an egg and cottage cheese salad for lunch which is not as tasty as my usual chicken one. Cottage cheese gives me sinus problems so don't normally have it, then I fancy some and then I suffer!Today I'm taking a friend up to the big town for shopping. Her OH did it on Wednesday but, I suspect, missed a few things out.My thoughts are with @TA's DGD, I really hope that the re-scheduled operation goes ahead today. @Chrisca - good luck to your OH with his post-op check. And fingers crossed that @Coxy and @WL are both feeling much better now and holiday plans can go ahead.Take care all, hugs all round.13

Morning All
Seems dark this morning, it's quite overcast but the clouds are high which is promising. Washing from yesterday all dried and put away, I'm not ironing the summer dresses, if I need them I'll iron as needed. Seems pointless to iron them to put away.
Your gardener sounds to be a gem Gers.
Hope the op goes ahead for your DGD TA.
Glad you're feeling better Coxy and WL. Have a good holiday Coxy.
When do you go away Nanny?
Seems like you're enjoying your walk and talks SO.
A very large job finished at work yesterday, I could feel my shoulders relax a little! Still lots to get done so the days will pass quickly thank goodness.
Friday already, I love a Friday! Take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another dull start to the day here with not much in the way of sunshine on offer. These grey days are depressing.
Eldest DGD is on her way for the op. Mr Unreliable (her dad) was taking her on the long drive to get there for her 7.30 appointment time. I was relieved to get a text earlier saying they were half way there as I expected him to sleep in or have some excuse for letting her down.
Middle DGD was happy with her results yesterday. Passed everything with good grades. She starts a new school in September for her A-levels as they are no longer doing them at her present school! It's the school she was hopeful of getting into when moving up from juniors but as not in the catchment area it wasn't to be. Fortunately luckier this time round for her A-levels.
I half did the Friday Tidy yesterday so will resume today. I'm still all at sea with days and to add to the confusion the hairdresser is coming tomorrow and she never works on a Saturday. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and recuperating DHs. Take care all, be safe xx

Morning all.
It's looking dull this morning but the weather forecast indicates no rain so I'll go and hang out the washing. It was cold when I went to bed last night; far too early in the year for that!
I'm feeling much better but not quite there yet. I have a week left of my steroid nasal spray so will have to see how I am when that finishes.
Today we're checking out a 4 mile walk in Harpenden, Herts, so about a 50 minute drive from us. I've offered to lead it in early October for a group of friends and we also need to decide on a pub for lunch afterwards. DH doesn't want to do long walks these days so I'm quite happy to keep it to less than 5 miles.
Fingers crossed for TA's DGD today and a good recovery for her afterwards. She has youth on her side
Hope everyone else's day goes to plan.9 -
Good morning all. For some reason the site wouldn't let me on yesterday, even though I told it I am human!
A nice start to the day, sun is starting to peep through, makes a change from the last few days which have been overcast, but no rain.
Yesterday I filled the car with petrol, (hope it lasts longer than the last fill up), and popped into Lids for my free veg, (broccoli). I was there at the right time to get a £1.50 fruit and veg box, so plenty in now.
Today I will be preparing apples for the freezer. OH, the forager,, has brought home 2 bags full from his walks with BD. They will be added to the 8 bags of cherries already in the freezer, so lots of crumbles over the winter, I think.
Nothing else other than the usual chores, I will catch up on yesterdays posts later, but hope that everyone is keeping well, and ops are going ahead as planned.
Have a good day, take care.10 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x Sounds like your gardener is a godsend. I used to be a jobbing gardener when the children were at school and would take away all the rubbish too. It’s the small things.I took Mum out yesterday. Usually just take her food shopping as she has a busy social calendar (which isn’t a bad thing at 83!). I only bought us lunch plus a birthday card for early September. Still need dollars - the PO travel exchange was shut yesterday. Will pop out today for those and finish off packing. Third at the quiz! Getting worse!!
Fingers crossed DGD has her procedure okay today @TravellingAbuela and great to hear of exam success x
Hope the move went smoothly @snoozer x
The RA sounds so painful @nannywindow - hope you have a lovely time away x
Have a good day all

Morning all, we have sun after several days of just greyness. I too was cold yesterday evening and pulled out my slippers so I've put away my trusty old scholl slip ons for a while.
We got the van sorted yesterday so only general checking of tyres etc and some dusting to do now, I don't understand how it gets dusty when it's closed up most of the time.
DGS had great results for his GSCE's yesterday, he did half of them a year early and gets to do the rest next year, fingers crossed he'll do just as well. Very proud grandparents here.
Yesterday we had a baby seagull sitting on the car bonnet so cue Mr Fix it waving his arms about frantically to shoo it away, he managed to get it to finally leave but it left some deposits which have to be cleaned off today ! Don't know what the neighbours thought, he's gone mad probably. No idea where it came from as we're about 30 miles from the sea although it could be a rubbish tip one.
I'll do some downstairs dusting and hoovering today but now I have to ring the surgery again as they keep asking me to make an app to see the GP. I've tried but there's nothing other than one when we're away.
Camelot we're going on 5th Sept for 2 weeks initially with the option of staying or changing sites for up to another 2 weeks.
TA hope the op goes well and DGD has a speedy recovery.
Hope all the DGC had good results and hugs to all.
Right I'm off to ring the surgery again !
nan xx
