Morning all and thanks @Scarlet for the start. It's cloudy out and is set to remain that way for the day, another no sunshine day, although it should stay dry with just a light breeze. Daytime temps of no more than 17 deg and 10 deg overnight. I'm not liking these cooler mornings and evenings or the shorter daylight hours - my curtains are being closed by 8.15 pm at the latest. Whilst I'm not going anywhere over the coming Bank Holiday, I hope it perks up for those who are.
DS arrived early yesterday after having collected my tablets for me and we set to sorting out the second toolbox. The overwhelming feeling was how many drill bits, spanners, screwdrivers etc does one man need!DS has taken the items he wants, some stuff went in the bin and I'll make a list of the remainder to send to the local charity I found in the hope they will take them. If not, I'll have to come up with Plan B. One puzzling find was a small cellophane packet containing spare bulbs for the fairy lights and the gadget that pulls them from their holders.
I have no idea how they ended up in the toolbox or even why but they're now where they should be - with the Xmas stuff.
Today's jobs - bake a loaf of bread, a couple of things to iron, a tidy up of the freezer boxes/lids (again) and sew the hem on the dress that I'm shortening. Tea tonight is a couple of BBQ style sausages, broccoli and baby potatoes.
Congratulations to those who've already received their successful exam results, I hope everyone else still waiting does just as well. It's a stressful time.
@AA - I think you can be forgiven if you bought just one small piece of fabric - it could have been worse!
@Coxy - Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you've managed to get the just-in-case ABs for your holidays.
@Rosy - Fingers crossed DH can be discharged later today, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
@snoozer - Love the quiz team name! I hope all goes well with the move today.
Right, time for another cuppa and then I'll get a wriggle on with the not-so-exciting but necessary dailies. Enjoy your day, take care and help yourself to a virtual hug if you need one.Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all, I didn't have a good night as the RA attacked my left hand so it's painful and curling like a claw 😟 I've taken painkillers so will have to wait till it passes, which it will eventually, hopefully that's sometime today.
Yesterday we had a lot of drizzle in the morning but I did visit the meat man, lots of things had gone up in price but it's good quality and there's no waste, but he keeps adding more new stuff to his list which we just have to try according to Mr Fix It 🤨. I now have lots of meat and 2 big sticks of black pudding in the fridge which I'll split, bag and freeze as everything comes family size and not for just 2 people ! At least it'll fill the chest freezer up part way.
Today we're going over the van but we'll wait till I can at least do some of the stuff when the painkillers kick in.
Snoozer happy moving day to all, hope it all goes smoothly and the lurgy goes away asap.
Rosy glad the op went well, even if a little sideways and I hope DH makes a full recovery.
Coxy glad the AB's worked and enjoy your hols.
WL glad you finally feel better too.
Good luck to all those DGC expecting results today. I've forgotten who else said what, so apologies, brain fog again.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need

Morning everyone
Cloudy here this morning and down to 14 degrees...I'd like the heat back please! Hopefully the sun might pop out later,
I've just done an e consultant for a chest infection, I'm hoping they will just give me a prescription without an appointment, but it depends who reads the e consult.
Little one really enjoyed our session at the library on Tuesday afternoon...she built a lovely bug house which is now sitting in my garden, she was so pleased with it. They've had some lovely activities this year.
Yesterday I took her and my great nephew to Alnwick Gardens where they had a brilliant day and both got soaked! They joined in with a water pistol fight and then explored all the water features in the Serpents Garden. There's one where a big metal cylinder fills with water then it comes over the top and soaks the children standing round it. Little ones' face was a picture as it was the first time she'd been brave enough, encouraged by GN who is 8. They had play tents with lots of unusual wooden games and puzzles, which they really enjoyed playing, some were quite challenging but GN managed them all with just a little help.
Oh, and we also had a turn on the adventure golf, which is just outside the gardens, neither of them had been to it before so they really enjoyed it.
Our bus got stuck behind a tractor on the way home, so we were about 15 minutes late - both children were picked up quite quickly - GN had football training - I don't know how he had any energy left, and DD picked little one up to have her tea at home and an early night - she was shattered.
It was a lovely day, the 2 children don't see each other often but they get on so well when they do meet up, and I love spending time with them both.
So I have the morning to myself, unless I get called in to the doctors. I'm meeting a friend for lunch later, though I'm not sure if I have the energy ...I'll see what I feel like in an hour or so.
Right best get on..I hope everyone has a good day.
Good luck to all the grandchildren getting exam results.
Snoozer I hope the move goes well...your little ones are going to miss being with you every day.
I hope everyone going on holiday has a great time x11 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but chilly in the mornings and evenings, I have a wash load on the line and another in the wm.
I have a day off today (paid) as Matt and his dad are going away for the night, so a bonus for me, I have a few jobs to do but nothing too taxing.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and have a look what we have after this, we have plenty in so won’t starve.
Good luck to all those getting exam results today xx
Gers congratulations on the weight loss xx
Snoozer I hope the move goes well xx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning allBack from shopping a day early as I'm taking DH to hospital tomorrow morning for check up after his op and then I'm off to collect some new hearing aids that I've been putting money away to get as they are pricey. I can keep them for 90 days and get a full refund if I don't get on so I hope they'll be all singing and dancing for the price!Just picked some cooking apples from tree and cutting up to stew. Should have left them a bit longer as they're a bit small still but in the mood so I'll strike while the iron's hot.Hope everyone has a good day and the poorlies are on the mend or out of hospital soon xx9
