Temporary car insurance for an 88 year old
My mum (88) and I are considering swapping cars. My car is smaller and would suit her better. Before doing this, my mum would like to try driving my car. This requires car insurance. Her car insurance doesn't have third party cover for driving another car. My car insurance won't allow addition of an 88-year-old. All the short-term car insurance options listed on the MSE site don't cover up to 88. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Will her insurance allow an extra car for a few days?If not it might be easier to just do the swap and swap back later if it doesn't work. If she changes her policy to cover your car and test drives it immediately, you'll know if you can then change your insurance to hers or to cancel her change. Her car will be uninsured for however long that takes, but if it's minutes it shouldn't be a problem.Does she actually need to drive it, or can she sit in it and mess with all of the controls?0

How do you know your small car would suit her better ?
What car does she have ?
I’m 84 and went from a Fiesta to a Jaguar XE 5 years ago and would never go back

She may be able to add your car to her insurance as a Temporary Additional Vehicle to her policy. A few years ago almost all insurers allowed a TAV but like most things as people want cheaper rather than value many have been reducing features to achieve the lower prices.area2120 said:My mum (88) and I are considering swapping cars. She has a Toyota Corolla. Mine's a Toyota Yaris. The Corolla is a tight fit in her driveway, and it is harder to park. After discussion, we decided to try it.MikeJXE said:How do you know your small car would suit her better ?
