Switching to another new supplier while in 14 day cooling off period

I recently switched from Eon Next to BG and my BG services started today. However I found a cheaper deal with Fuse, and I decided to switch from BG to Fuse.

Am I correct that BG cannot charge me exit fees to move to a new supplier, as I am still within my initial 14 day cooling off period with them?

I didn't want to cancel the switch to BG,  go back to Eon and then switch again to Fuse in case the deal I want is withdrawn.

Thanks for any advice.

As long as you have made BG aware that you are invoking your 14 day cooling off period by switching away, you won't get charged fees. Without letting them know, you are at the mercy of their automated billing system.

Thanks for the advice - I've called BG to cancel the switch. Do you know if this affects the switch I have already started to my preferred new supplier (Fuse)?

You didn't need to cancel the switch. You should have just told BG that you are switching away within the 14 day cooling off period. You may now find that your Fuse switch doesn't go through. You'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next few days.

A few weeks ago I left Octopus for 'Good energy' but I emailed 'Good energy' after a few days that I had changed my mind and would be using my 14 day cooling off period.

    They responded:

I chose option 3 and I decided to move to utility warehouse.

I think you will be ok switching to Fuse because you have now informed British gas that you are using your 14 day cooling off period, plus Fuse will be informing British gas that you are now switching to them.
