Inheritance interim payment

Hi

I have no clue as to request an interim payment from inheritance. To request from the solicitor/executor. I am unsure as to how to word it. I don't want to appear, pushy
Is there an example template i can use.
 Many thanks

I would simply asked when could they make an interim payout. I don't see any need to fluff it up and I am sure they will be willing to help.

This would entail additional costs if the estate is being dealt with by a solicitor, as they'd have to put together an interim account and then adjust it when that did the final accounts.

They'd probably only agree if all the beneficiaries agree and if they all get an interim payment.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Agree with all the above, but is the amount of your inheritance reasonably clear at this point, and do you know what else needs to happen?

For example, if there's a property to be sold, that does delay the process and nothing's final until it's final. Also it may be worth stating briefly why you're asking and what you're hoping for - no-one's going to make an interim payment which might exceed your eventual inheritance, and if that's the kind of sum you need then you need to consider alternatives.

There is a property to sell. Which we are aware takes a while. That could take a while to sell. We know that would not be considered, Therefore requesting a partial amount of the funds available.
    Thanks

How long has it been since probate was granted? As the executor is a solicitor I'd expect them to be very cautious about any distribution until they are certain that there are no claims on the estate that weren't initially known about, which I understand usually takes at least 6 months to establish.
From my own experience as executor I did indeed make an interim payment from cash in the estate prior to sale of the property, but I knew there were only 4 beneficiaries, all close family, so there were no risks in what I did (and agreed with my co-executor).

    Be patient.

You similarly queried when you would receive a separate trust distribution ( you were 1 of 7 beneficiaries in that case) , which you confirmed  eventually arrived  in due course.

Matters like this are process ( especially where there are number of beneficiaries) , and professionals are naturally concerned to ensure T's are crossed and I's  dotted, before making even interim distributions on account.

Where there are more than one beneficiary in the mix ( which I suspect is the case), neither the solicitor or executor is going to pay much notice to a single beneficiary request when others are content to wait patiently.

Hi, my mum is also a beneficiary and a cousin whom all want an interim payment. Probate has been passed a few months ago. We do have reasons as to the request. Health reasons. All the finances are in. Apart from the property which has been up fosale for a year now.
    Regards
    Louise

You can put in a request, but you cannot insist and the executor is under no obligation to make any interim payments. If there is still a house to sell, it’s less likely that you’ll get anything substantial as an interim. Funds need to be upheld for maintaining the property. In addition, time needs to be given for any other potential beneficiaries to come forward.
