Outfox used to let you switch tariff internally without charging any exit fees but they are changing that position from the 1 September according to a Facebook post from Outfox.

You will have to pay any exit fees unless you meet two particular criteria...

You’ve completed 50% or more of your current fixed tariff duration, and
The tariff you’re moving to is equal to or longer in duration than your current fixed tariff.

Looks like a very sensible move from OFTM who seem to have made a rod for their back by allowing customers to change without fee even though the fees are clearly stated. As long as they stick to this, everyone should know exactly where they stand.

I think they have been exceedingly generous in letting me change my tariff every 3 weeks or so for the past few months.  It clearly wasn't sustainable.  Quite happy with my current 2 year fix.

EDIT - I lied - just fixed for another 2 years at a better rate!

As I said on the other recent OFTM thread, it is a business decision that has come back to bite them.

OFTM presumably survived the Great Supplier Cull because they were actually hedging properly. But people moving to the lowest price, every 5 minutes, is going to erode the margin they have on the already purchased energy.

I just noticed a cheaper fixed deal in 'Your Available Tariffs' in the Outfox app.

Can I switch tariff using the app (or do I need to speak with them first in order a avoid the exit fees)?

    Thank in advance.

You can switch in the app or through the website. No need to speak to anyone.

And this won't incur any exit fees (currently £100 exit fee per fuel - on Outfox 2-year Fix'd Dual Jun25 v3.0) ?

    TIA
You need to call OFTM and check. Currently waiving the fees is a goodwill gesture, that is they are not obliged contractually to do so. Once the T's and C's are changed on 1st September it all becomes clearer and you know where you stand. It is probably reasonable to guess that if you meet the criteria outlined in the new T's and C's they will waive any exit fees on the same basis in advance of the formal change but it's important not to assume that will happen and call them to make sure.

Thank you, I have initiated a tariff change to '2-Year Fix'd Dual Aug25 v3.0', saving about £400 over the 2-year fix:

(Electric 20.1p per kWh / 45.94p sc;  Gas 5.08 per kWh / 29.59p sc;  Eastern Region)

Confirmed no exit fees payable - Ref: Malik @ Outfox.  :)
