Why don't you take the opportunity and switch to a different provider? Virgin media and Community fibre are both £12.50. Depending on where you live community fibre might not be an option.0

Thanks both of you, I was going to ring Bt today but ran out of time! I’m almost to scared to ring as I might end up with a higher price 🤣I will look at alternatives as I didn’t even think of that, I will see what other companies have to offer!

If you have decent Three or Vodafone mobile reception in your area then it might be worth looking at a 4G router and an unlimited mobile data contract. I'm paying £16 per month with Talkmobile who are part of Vodafone. Smarty, part of Three, are sometimes even cheaper. If you can get by with a fixed amount of data then you might find something even cheaper. Speeds here are about the same as the cheapest FTTC offering but will vary depending on location.1

Thanks James Perret I have been looking to this as well funny enough as I used to do this before having wi fi, just had unlimited data on my phone and used this but then I moved and reception could be tricky. Thanks for the advice about a router!0

Data on a mobile router plan is usually cheaper than the similar data plan for a phone.1
