Why don't you take the opportunity and switch to a different provider? Virgin media and Community fibre are both  £12.50. Depending on where you live community fibre might not be an option.
  • Thanks both of you, I was going to ring Bt today but ran out of time! I’m almost to scared to ring as I might end up with a higher price 🤣I will look at alternatives as I didn’t even think of that, I will see what other companies have to offer!

If you have decent Three or Vodafone mobile reception in your area then it might be worth looking at a 4G router and an unlimited mobile data contract. I'm paying £16 per month with Talkmobile who are part of Vodafone. Smarty, part of Three, are sometimes even cheaper. If you can get by with a fixed amount of data then you might find something even cheaper. Speeds here are about the same as the cheapest FTTC offering but will vary depending on location.
  • Thanks James Perret I have been looking to this as well funny enough as I used to do this before having wi fi, just had unlimited data on my phone and used this but then I moved and reception could be tricky. Thanks for the advice about a router!

Data on a mobile router plan is usually cheaper than the similar data plan for a phone.
