Exchanging and completing on the same day avoids the (albiet small but definitely possible) risk that you exchange and then your buyer cannot proceed and you are still committed to your purchase.
Doesnt avoid it, just reduces it and its a bit of a moot point because it increases the chances of you not completing on that date because someone can still simply walk away as you haven't exchanged yet.

Appreciate all the posts - helpful.
My EA said that to Exchange and Complete  on the same day, My solicitor made no comment and proceeded,  after reading the replies from this thread. I went back and queried again with my solicitor and a few days ago  we had exchanged. Now waiting to complete.  I have not heard from her today...

The sale of my property have been completed.

I have received  a statement of fees, redemption statement to send to my lender, agent's fees. and (the exchange of contact which I have signed). ie a list of fees but no paper work to confirm we have exchanged /  completed.

Apart from checking on my mortgage account and Land Registry to show this had taken place.

What  documents should I be getting  from my Solicitor?

After all fees have been deducted, my solicitor have transferred the sell proceeds to me.
However, my mortgage account shows loan have been paid off but  is now showing the redemption fee is outstanding (£90)
