Hi, the above has happened to me this week, no originally fine letter received & now £170 debt collector letter dropped ! Did you manage to resolve this ? If so - how ? Please help ?
    Thank you
    There's clearly no fine.

And no action to take. Unless the PCN went to an old address due to the common oversight: failing to update your V5C when you moved? If so, then obviously you need to put that right.

Nobody panics or pays £170 to anyone.

Stop reading old threads from months ago, and no replying here.

You seem to have missed reading the MSE Guide to private parking tickets (link, top of page) and/or the NEWBIES FAQs thread.

Check your V5 address is correct.

Common scam though - "forgetting" to send out the £60 letter but sending out a £170 letter means they more than double their money if the recipient is foolish enough to pay.
  • Hello,
Quick update. I heard nothing from them for months and then received a dcbl (Direct Collection Balliffs Ltd) letter today.

In this they stated that I had 14 days to pay or call to discuss etc.

I guess I just keep ignoring.

  • As the one below you said - I did send the initial letter then ignored them. Good luck! Nasty companies.

No need to guess. Did you miss the fact that DCB letter is in the pictures of threatograms to ignore in the NEWBIES thread?

I just received a DCB Legal letter that was dated near the end of March 20206. I have 30 days, and am over that as did not get the letter until this week! I understand I need to reply to this one. Although as it is technically beyond the 30 days what is likely to happen?

    Correct, if its an LBC

Use their info@ email address with the LoC template

  • Thank you.

    Is this the correct template:

    Dear Sirs,

    Your ref:

    Proposed legal proceedings

    Claimant: Euro Car Parks Ltd

I refer to your letter of claim.

I confirm that my address for service for the time being is as follows, and any older address must be erased from your records:

You should revert to your client because the 'propensity to pay' score in my case is zero, so any claim is hopeless and a waste of the court fee (whether 'fronted' by your firm or not). Move on to weaker victims.

The alleged 'debt' is disputed and any court proceedings will be vigorously defended.

    Yours faithfully,

Do I need to add anything else? My two reasons for not paying was that I simply did not see the signage. I had parked there once before about a year ago and it was not ECP ruled then. It was on a donation basis. Also I did not receive any of the early letters, despite having lived at the same address for the last 11 years so all V5's were correct.

    Thank you again :)

Use that template, no additions or explanations, save it for later in the saga

I wouldn't even waste my time responding to the LBC personally.

You're going to get a court court claim anyway, you're going to defend it, they're going to discontinue, they're going to be £35 down on the court fee.
