Microsoft Outlook - Licensing

Hi. Does anyone know whether it is possible to pay for a license for Microsoft Outlook only, rather than paying a M365 subscription? I purchased Microsoft Office 2024 Home for my MacBook, keen to keep my work M365 away from personal devices. However, I recently switched from Apple Mail to using Outlook (I find the UI far better), and noticed I keep getting ad's at the top. I'm sure there has to be some way to get an Outlook license rather than having to pay for the full Microsoft Office 2024 for Business. Groupon and other sites seem to be selling licenses but these all look to be for Windows PC's only.

Any advice would be appreciated.

2021 version is cheaper at around £33... or you can buy one of those Volume Licence 365 packages that go for a one off payment of as little as £10.

AFAIK no, to perpetually license Outlook for a Mac you need Microsoft Office 2024 Home and Business and there isn't a 'top up' license option if you have Home. There's numerous threads on the forum on the wisdom or otherwise of buying 'grey' licenses from re-sellers of corporate licences.

Or even less, so I'm told ... 😉

You can buy a licence for just outlook https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/p/outlook/cfq7ttc0pbmd which despite the M365 in the URL is a perpetual licence.

You may find a legitimate site selling an older version for less or you may be comfortable buying from a grey site that are mis-selling volume licences for next to nothing.

Unless you are using Outlook with an Exchange server for business purposes I'd personally question if its the best mail client for personal use, especially if you dont want to be lining the pockets of those mis-selling licences.

Also, Outlook on the Mac is a vastly different program to the wildly overblown Outlook in 365 on Windows 10 / 11.

Some have commented that the name is all they have in common! Apparently Microsoft bought in a product and simply renamed it.

That said, for most basic uses I far prefer it!
