Plum taking more than agreed Direct Debit

reconsiling my bank statements I noticed that Plum had taken £20 DD last week instead of their usual £10.
On asking why I was told there was a Technical issue ( Reply from them shown below) - I know It was only £10 and its made no diffrence to me as the £10 is now earning interest in an account that we use to save money should the cats need the vets rather than my current account.
Just raising the issue so others are aware , as it looks like its affected more people than me

Hello,
We're aware of a technical issue that has caused some Combo depositors to run unexpectedly or set aside higher amounts than intended.
Additionally, some Customers are not receiving the usual notification with the breakdown.
Our team is actively investigating what happened to ensure it does not happen again.
If more money than intended has been set aside, you'll be able to withdraw the excess amount and return it to your bank account as soon as it settles.
We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience while we work to fully resolve the issue.

I guess, as you say, having £10 moved from one account to another (both under your control) is no big deal.
But these autosave accounts (not just Plum) are generally given open banking access to shift as much as they like.
Could, at best, be inconvenient if your current account has been emptied on the day you pay your utility bills, credit cards or your mortgage.0 -
I'm not familiar with Plum - are you saying that the both current and savings accounts are with them and it was somee form of automated internal transfer that took more than was intended ?
If it was a genuine Direct Debit as per your thread title, then you should be able to reclaim the money under the DD guarantee if you wished.0 -
no - it a savings account with Plum - taken from my current account with a diffrent bank
It serves 2 purposes - Firstly it gives me enough DD on my current account with Lloyds to get Intrest, at £10 perweek , it also adds up to what we were going to be paying for Pet insurance for the cat - Sort a self insurance policy shoud the cat need the vets - know I could take it back - reason for post was to let others know it could happen to others , would hate anyone to get bank charges because Plum has taken extra -or if they have had bank charges they can start to chase Plum to cover them

I would ask for the money back, plus compensation for the inconvenience and effort0

Their "technical issue" could cause some people to go into their overdraft. If that was me I'd be expecting much more than a "sorry" email.0

If that was me I'd be expecting much more than a "sorry" email.Though the DD guarantee could be used to avoid any charges in that scenario. It may need to be used if you need the money back quicker than it takes to clear in the savings account, as from past experience it is not available to withdraw immediately.0
