Best place to get some euros

Hi all,

We are going to Spain next Friday to see friends just for the weekend and needs euros.
Where is the best place to buy euros whether in a shop or online and is there a best day of the week to buy them so we can get maximum value for our money?
We will only need 150-200 euros
Any advice would be most appreciated
Kind regards mark

Do you really need cash? Card payments are normally very acceptable.

For EUR 200 the difference in rates between the various bureaux will be less than a quid (if you avoid changing at the airport). I'd pick the nearest place from the MSE guide linked above that costs the least to get to.

Ditto on the day of the week (unless the Pound crashes before next weekend).

50 Euro notes usually aren't too bad and will be accepted at most places but German ATMs have a habit of dishing out €100 notes which can be a total pain to get rid of.

Preferential rate if you have a Sparks 'card'.

Similar at John Lewis if you buy using their credit card (no cash advance fee)

Have M&S sorted out their online problems - the bank in our local store couldn't do foreign currency for a while ?
    Presumably resolved since ?

No personal experience but their app is showing no issues and is actively promoting their BdeC/Sparks offer.
