Morning all. Unusual, there doesn't seem to be a thread for today so I'll start off - I hope I'm not missing something! Be back soon.

Good morning 😊
Thank you for the start @YorksLass
We have had a busy couple of days. Yesterday, we travelled to Middle Peak Quarry in Wirksworth Derbyshire for a hike, leaving the house before dawn. This meant getting up at three o'clock in the morning, but it was so worth it, as the views were stunning. The quarry itself was fenced off, but the trails were scenic.
By the time we got home, I was shattered, so I showered and went to bed, waking up just before six o'clock this morning.
Today, I am making milk bread rolls. I was tempted to go to the shop to buy some, but that defeats using up what's in store, so will sort that shortly.
I have a few chores to catch up on. The washing machine has just finished, so that needs to go out on the line. It's not as hot as it was yesterday, but the washing should still dry.
For dinner tonight, we will have either boneless pork ribs, or vegan ribs, with spicy rice, and corn cobs.
Other than that, we are going to see an adaptation of Coppélia this afternoon, which I'm looking forward to. We have seen a few ballets, but not that many. This one is by an amateur production group, but it should still be good.
Hope you all have a good day 😊12 -
Well done for starting @YorksLass
I'm beginning to feel a bit better but still not quite back to normal. Luckily it's a bit cooler here today so will get some food shopping but wait to hang the washing out later. DD and family are due back from France tonight so will pop them round a few supplies and more plums from the tree.
We did go out for a 2hr geocaching walk yesterday afternoon with no ill effects so that's good.
More ironing today; such fun!!
Look after yourselves everyone.13 -
Morning YL and all to follow. I was just going to start a thread but you beat me to it! Where is everyone this morning?
We have cloud cover this morning but it's supposed to lift this afternoon for our daily dose of sunshine. It still feels very warm despite the lack of sun. I am supposed to be changing the bed but it feels like a job too far in this heat. I have the clean bedding sitting there waiting until energy strikes!
DD and the girls are heading back home today. They are booked on the 10.30 ferry and then face the long drive up home. She's not looking forward to it, especially in this heat. I have requested the usual updates letting me know they are ok.
Yesterday ended up a bitsa day - bitsa this and bitsa that. I made a start on sorting the grocery cupboards out and seemed to end up with less space than when I started, despite a few ood bits ending up in the bin and other items earmarked for the food donation point in the sm. May resume that job today. Then I made a start on clothes pruning. I made a start on bagging stuff not worn for ages and then started dithering, should I keep or should it go. So another job to resume with more determination.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. COXY I meant to say I love your little pew. So cute. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @YorksLass
Much cooler today and there seems to be a hint of rain.
Did a bit of shopping yesterday, the bus was so hot, only four tiny windows and no air conditioning.
Going to try and get a few bits done whilst it's cooler.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @YorksLass x
Cloudy here but still warm - what to wear?? We need to pop to Bee and Queue today for a bath panel and a towel radiator. Such glamour 😂 We are down for watering the community allotment later then it’s dinner out with DDis and BIL.
I took a couple of crafting books out of the library on Thursday and made a patchwork needlecase yesterday. It was a bit fiddly but I’m pleased with the result. I’m slowly getting more confident with my sewing machine, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. The slow-cooked bolognaise ragu ended up mostly being frozen as both DD and DS2 had other plans last night. The photos of the quarry look amazing @themsthebreaks - I really miss hiking. We will hike Mount Reynier in Seattle next week - think DH will be Sasquatch hunting 🤣
Glad to hear you were able to get out and about @WickedLady4 do hope you’re feeling better xHave a good day everyone

Morning All
Thanks for the start Yorklass.
I was up and out early this morning to do a bit of shopping and check the allotment. The beans seem to be recovering a bit so picked those, the last of the beetroot and some onions. There's a couple of plum trees absolutely dripping with plums so I've picked some and brought them home, will keep some for eating and make jam with the rest.
Work yesterday was very busy but quite enjoyable, nice to see all the children back. Next week will be tough - a whole week!
Pleased to hear you're feeling better WL. Make sure you're fully recovered before you start zipping up and down the country again.
Hope DD and family have a safe trip TA.
Lovely pics TTB, worth the early rise. Enjoy the ballet.
Loving your craftwork Coxy.
Right, I'm going to crack on with oiling the deck, hoping to get it finished today so I can put everything back tomorrow.
Take care. XX

Morning all
I think I missed yesterday - went out for an early dog walk then got stuck into jobs and finally came indoors when I got too warm about 3pm.Today have been for a walk by the canal - with a very tame heron.Popped into the supermarket as we had somehow run out of fruit which is a disaster. Have a chicken cooking for cold and salad later. Hoping to do some more leisurely activities as I’m more than tired.Take care all

Back again - I'm so glad you haven't all disappeared!
After yesterday's glorious weather, today we have a mainly cloudy day with light winds, although still warm with temperatures peaking at around 23 deg. Not much in the way of sunshine until late afternoon.
Another one here that had a bitsa day yesterday (thanks TA for that word). Weekly admin done including chasing up TV licensing for a refund - they really are a difficult organisation to deal with if you want to speak to a real person!Anyway, said refund should be with me by the end of the month. I found the velcro I was hoping I had and stitched that onto the new laptop cover while I was watching TV last night. I'd post a piccie but I'm still waiting for DS to clear all his stuff from the smart phone he's donating to me. Apparently, he has four mobiles!
One in use, one destined for me and two others to sell. Kitchen floor swept/mopped, bins emptied and cleaned, small mat in front of kitchen sink given a scrub. Flitted between reading, knitting and cross stitch on my down time. Sometimes I think I've not done a great deal but, in reality, I have - it just all seems so ordinary!
First off today I want to clean out the empty toolbox so I can use it for the tools I'm keeping before I start sorting out box #2. After that I need to pop out for some milk - guess who forgot to order some on Thursday's grocery delivery? No matter, I can combine that with dropping off a bag of soft plastics and returning two books to The Little Free Library - one read and enjoyed, the other started but not for me. The only other pressing thing for today is to try out some new shampoo that's supposed to be good for a dry and itchy scalp that's driving me nuts - it's either old age or stress, or maybe both. It was expensive so I hope it works! Tea tonight is a prawn salad, strawberries for afters.
@TTB - Lovely pics of the quarry - it's amazing how nature reclaims such places.
@WL - Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better and that yesterday's geocaching session went well.
@Coxy - That's a very cute needle case, keep persevering with the sewing machine!
@camelot - Fingers crossed you can get the decking finished today, that will be another job done and dusted.
@AA - I'm guessing the heron is hoping to find fish in the canal, it must be very clean water. Have a restful day.
Take care all and have an enjoyable day whatever you plan or choose to do. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all
Not quite so warm today but not raining either, so the wm is on with DD’s holiday clothes it should dry well today.
We had a T/A curry for dinner yesterday I only ate a tiny bit and then started to feel a bit funny, kind of really bloated / full of wind and horrible tummy cramps, I was in bed for 9 and had to take pain meds, I have woken this morning feeling fine it was very strange.
BBQ for dinner tonight I have some large mushrooms so will cook them in some garlic butter, and do some salad and new potatoes.
Dogs to be walked later and some housework to do nothing too strenuous.
Coxy I too loved your pew very pretty xx
Have good days all and take care xx10
