How did the final lenses feel when they put the new prescription in at the end, to check your acuity with them?

I'm no expert but every eye test I've had, they've done that.  (Most recently at Specsavers and previously at a local independent, for reference.)

I have attempt to speak with their main customer service number which addresses concerns and have been on hold for 25 mins coming up to half an hour.

The standard of service seems dreadful.  I understand as I am over 60 and have free eye test on NHS that I would need to pay should I wish to see someone else.  I think they have be over a barrel.

Also the other 2 opticians will have see thnat I am querying last test and now I feel I may not be treated as before.

Pushing me away from an opticians I have seen for past 15 years.

I do think you’re jumping the gun a little bit when you’ve not yet even tried the glasses.
They may be fine despite your misgivings.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

That is the only option, but the misgivings  relate to concern regarding the exam - and the fact that they know I am unhappy - when I have never felt this way in the past.

But don't you have this to fall back on?
If it is Specsavers, they have the 100 day no quibble guarantee. You will have to fight harder in an independent to get a refund.
I understand what you mean about the experience of the eye test and not trusting their prescription. Was it much different to your previous pescription?

And if it's a different optician instead of Specsavers:

Basically I spoke with them and was told to accept the glasses and try them and if I was not happy I could have a refund, or see a diierent optican, it was less than 20min after I left and I intially asked for them to pause the order, it seems this was not an option.  The more I think on it the more I basically question the whole procedure.  I expressed my wish to have the glasses just see the optican I expected.

I really think you're blowing this up into more than it is.

I do understand about not being happy with the exam as my husband had a similar experience and I later had the same experience with the same optician.
When I made my next appointment, I was clear that under no circumstances would I accept my eye test to be done by that person.
The receptionist was very helpful and checked and told me that the person was no longer employed by Specsavers.

    You have had the test.
    You've ordered the glasses.
Just wait until they are ready and see how they are.
If they are OK, you've worried for nothing.
If they are not OK, simply tell them the prescription is not right.

Thank you.  Am dreading collecting them because they know I am already unhappy even before I try them.  Naturally I will reluctantly have to give then a try.  But not happy with the test - quick and impersonal
Well they will have no means of knowing whether you have tried them or not if you take them away for a week! So providing you are confident you can then reject them and get a refund, is that not the path of least resistance?

Thank you Undervalued - this is exactly what I will do.  Give them a good try.

I do however intend to address why I was not asked with the final lense decision what I thought/how it seemed.

As I have mentioned the test was quick with no option for me to comment.

Finally I have decided to put this matter to bed.

    Life is too short.

    Just wait and try.
