Opticans concern about prescription

Firstly I was rather put out the the appointment was not with expected person.
I was told they could remake the appt for future date - but embrassent made me feel rather awkward, and I said no I would see the locum.  Now I am rather regretting it.

Basically I spoke with them and was told to accept the glasses and try them and if I was not happy I could have a refund, or see a diierent optican, it was less than 20min after I left and I intially asked for them to pause the order, it seems this was not an option.  The more I think on it the more I basically question the whole procedure.  I expressed my wish to have the glasses just see the optican I expected.

I am sure this sounds like a storm in a teacup, but I had difficulty trying to explain some aspects to him,  I have never felt that way with my past experience of the other two poticans I have seen in this practice.  Plus always used them over the years.

It really has ruined my outlook and have no idea whether to just shut up....but accepting something like glasses if not confident about them worries me.  Plus it really was the quickest eye test I have ever had....Friday night and wanting to get away!!!

Where did you have the eye test? Somewhere like Specsavers or an independent optician?

Of the chains I've personally found Specsavers and Boots are more pressured selling of the glasses following a test... Especially Specsavers.

Cubitts, Jimmy Fairly, and Ollie Quinn are all about doing the test (which you pay for) and going for their glasses are encouraged but optional. Edit: these are more London focused though.

For a more widespread chain I've found David Clulow are also unpressured, but their glasses are higher end.

Thank you.  Am dreading collecting them because they know I am already unhappy even before I try them.  Naturally I will reluctantly have to give then a try.  But not happy with the test - quick and impersonal
  • If it is Specsavers, they have the 100 day no quibble guarantee. You will have to fight harder in an independent to get a refund.
I understand what you mean about the experience of the eye test and not trusting their prescription. Was it much different to your previous pescription?

Being London based I use Cubitts for my eye tests.

Oh Yes.....and really comments were different than last optican I thought I was seeing.
I should add I was discharged from an eye consultant in Nov 24 and the comment was your eyes all good....which I realise could be more in the context of the referral which was allergies.
