I'm taking a two day trip to Barcelona around July 11th, i'm on a budget so does anyone have any cheap hotels/b&b's within the city centre preferably not miles away!?
Also, i've never been before does anyone have any advice or tips for me in Barcelona?
Would be greatly appreciated!

Despite racking my brains I can't remember where I stayed, however the best place to find cheap accomodation is https://www.hostelworld.com (it does guesthouses and cheap hotels as well as hostels).
I did just the obvious tourists sites, but they are well worth it.
Advice:
* Mind your cash, there are pickpockets about.
* Don't bother trying to use the particular version of Spanish supposedly spoken there, all the shops and hotels seem to be staffed by people from outside the area who look at you blankly.
Great place, I'm sure you will enjoy it.0 -
A few years back I spent 6 months inspecting hotels in Barcelona - one 2* in particular was excellent value for money at the time - the Hotel Parallel - I don't know how it compares now but do a couple of searches.
Loads going on - but whatever you do remember that nothing much happens until after midnight if you're going to the bars/clubing.
DO beware pickpockets - and if you think something is a scam - it definately is!
The restaurants around the fish market are great value for lunch. Go for 'menu del dia' which is a fixed price 2/3 courses with wine or a drink. Some restaurants give you a dozen choices per course, some only 2. Go where the taxi drivers eat for really good value. Mostly only available at lunch time though.
Have a great time - Barcelona is one of the best places in europe!0
