Debenhams Refund timeframe

Hello,

I purchased an item online from Debenhams, and returned it for a refund. They received the goods 14 days ago but I still do not have a refund. After researching am I right in thinking that the Consumer Contract Regulation says that they have to refund me within 14 days of them receiving the goods or having proof that I have sent the goods back?

Yes if you made a clear statement to them that you were cancelling the contract. That's a specific requirement of CCR2013.

If you returned the item under Debenhams' own T&Cs, then whatever those T&Cs say, no more and no less.

Indeed. 

However, even then there is no useful remedy if they take longer and only so much you can do to speed the process up. In extreme you can take legal action to recover your money but that could easily take many months. That of course assumes that whatever part of Debenhams that is still trading hasn't gone bust before then!

Looking online through Reddit, Facebook etc it seems that this is common for Debenhams to take months to refund customers. Will certainly be the last time I order from them!
