I had an item that's been for sale for ages.
Item is 100g and large letter size.
I can fit 6 of them in a large letter.
Weight has been entered into the listing details.
Buyer made a sensible offer for a quantity of 4.
I was expecting the postage to be the same at £2.70 for a tracked 48 large letter so I accepted the offer on that basis.
For some reason ebay have charged me £5.21 for a label. I'm told not to exceed large letter 1kg so they obviously know all 4 items will fit in one large letter and be under 1kg.
Admittedly I'm paying less for the postage than if I had sold the 4 items individually but it feels like ebay should have shown me how much I would pay for postage (or actually receive for the items) when showing me the offer amount and asking me to accept??
I've only just noticed it now but if I check my sales history I've been charged more than the actual cost on quite a few multiple purchase orders. I've not even seen ebay publish the fact that they would be doing this anywhere?

That only shifts the postage cost on to you though.RedImp_2 said:For these reasons I always opt for buyer pays postage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have tried the buyer pays postage.
Free postage (seller pays) shows the listings far higher in search results though.
So unless you have a unique/rare item it will never be seen.

All mine are buyer pays and I don't seem to have any issues. However I was just responding to the comment about cost of postage - which of course wouldn't change whoever pays for it.se2020 said:I have tried the buyer pays postage.

As a frequent buyer I tend to have a price in mind when I search for things. I’m happy to pay the postage. The only thing that annoys me a little is when there are many people who are selling the same thing and are charging wildly different prices for the postage. Quite often the packing is a bin liner so minimal cost there. I buy a lot of clothes so wrapping them securely in a bin liner is secure enough. Some sellers make a work of art with the packing which takes me ages to unpack 😹soolin said:
