George @ Asda sandals recall

Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone can advise or point me in the right direction.
I am wondering if anyone can advise or point me in the right direction.
I purchased some sandals from George @ Asda online.
The quality wasn’t great and they made my feet itch but they was cheap and pretty for a holiday trip over the summer.
I didn’t think anymore of it until I recieved an email form Asda stating the product is being recalled due to high levels of Nickel found. The email stated to return to store for a full refund.
I purchased online as I don’t have an Asda store near me so I contacted them online stating this. First they asked for a screen shot of the email I recieved and then went on to state if the sandals haven’t been a problem and have been worn they are unable to accept a return.
I informed them that the quality wasn’t great. They replied saying all we can do is offer a £5 credit voucher.
Is this acceptable?
Thank you for your time

What colour are your sandals?1 -
Presumably lilac or sage1

Obviously someone not aware of the recall, contact them again if you purchased the lilac or sage sandals.1

Many thanks for your replies. I purchased the lilac.I did explain to customer services online and sent a copy of the recall email I recieved but they said if the sandals have been worn I can only have a credit of £5 which makes no sense when If I could get to an Asda store would be offered a full refund even without a receipt.1

Have you actually tried speaking to someone in customer services or have you just tried online?
If they've issued a safety recall because of the possible risk of heavy metal poisoning it's ridiculous for them "to state if the sandals haven’t been a problem and have been worn they are unable to accept a return" or then say they will only offer a £5 voucher if they've been worn!
If you can't get through to a human being to talk sense to you could try emailing their CEO!1 -
I agree. I have since contacted them again and explained it doesn’t sound right and they have now refund me plus £5 credit. Thanks for everyone’s helps1
