Why are some of my hotmail emails not being received?

I have an email address with hotmail which I thought was working fine. I seemed to be getting my emails okay however I noticed that emails from moneysavingexpert, M&S, EOn, are not coming through. I've re-entered my email on the moneysavingexpert weekly email twice now but still nothing. Obviously I've checked my junk folder but nothing. With M&S I put in my email (not using autofill but typing it in) and tried to change the password to log in but when it says it has sent me an email it doesn't arrive.  This has happened on some other sites ie PoochandMutt for example. I haven't changed any settings or blocked anyone (I don't know how to block an email). It's so frustrating. I fear I'll miss something important.

Any simple advice for a pensioner?

If you want to avoid this, don't use Microsoft for email, they are notorious for this kind of thing.

I have my own domain (and email address) with 1&1/Ionos
A few years ago I would send to hotmail addresses but they just didn't arrive (including an RSVP to someone's wedding!!)
There was no bounce message or anything and, like you, nothing at the other end.
    As said, maybe try gmail?

Really? Care to quote a source?

Never had a problem with my hotmail account in the 25+ years I've had the thing.

Considering a good chunk of public email addresses (gov.uk etc) are powered by Microsoft I highly doubt that.

This sort of thing is almost always caused by your Junk Filter setttings:

Or you've set up a rule (deliberately or by accident) to delete everything/email from certain addreses on arrival as per this demo I've just slapped together quickly:

It comes from years on technical mailing lists and email related forums There's even some advocacy for using them, because it's easier on the inside.

For me the problem is intermittent which is more frustrating.  I mean, it's one thing if something simply doesn't work.  It's quite another if it works randomly.

I had this problem over a number of years, and still have this problem. It is nothing to do with filters or junk folders. Some hotmail messages simply don't arrive

I stopped using Hotmail because its spam filters are kwap.  I find Google products more user friendly for the novice/average user.
