Nationwide direct debit alerts

I'm thinking of switching my current account from Chase to Nationwide, retaining an account with Chase to continue being a customer. I don't keep a balance in my current account but helpfully Chase sends me an app reminder the day before payments are taken. Do NW do the same please?

My calendar sends me alerts if I ask it to do this although the precise date may vary a little.

    Yes, they do:
...but they do not have the really useful alerts.

NW do have high and low balance alerts that you can set.

Also, if you have a scheduled payment that is going out and will take you into overdraft then you will get a warning message the day before.

I also don’t keep much in my Nationwide FkexDirect account & have not set up any alerts. I regularly get a text from Nationwide on the morning a SO is due to go out telling me there isn’t enough in my account. By the time the text arrives, there is. I suspect it’s just that Nationwide initiates outward payments before processing inward payments.
It has never caused a problem, other than the minor irritation.

Nationwide are notorious for being hopelessly old fashioned. If you want any sort of modern feature from your banking app then they aren't for you.

If you are thinking of switching I would definitely recommend Lloyds they send you alerts for pending direct debits  money in and money out etc

Can you tell me how to activate these in the app please? I didn’t think they had them.
