British Gas and Solar Power, a Nightmare

We have been joint fuel customers with British Gas for years and just had solar panels fitted. I have spent two weeks emailing (prommised reply in 7 days and none yet with chasing) phoning and getting passed around the house and been hung up on twice....yes always been polite! On line found off peak tariff but mentions they may ask for proof of EV, which we don't yet have! I cannot find anyone to talk to who can help me set up a suitable tariff with British Gas for normal electricity use, feed in tariff and off peak tariff, to charge the solar panel batteries when needed. Unbelievable, and they are throwing me into the arms of Octopus all because they operate in hard to get hold of silos.
Really disappointed.

They asked me about the EV which I have no intention of getting.  One main serious reason being that they are currently all too large to fit in my garage & there is nowhere else for the car.  So I just changed to Octopus from BG.  The billing is a much pleasanter experience than BG ever was, if you can call an energy bill a pleasant experience ever.  Well the last 3 when the income was higher than both the gas & electric were quite pleasant.

If you want an EV tariff, you have to have an EV.  Economy 7 has been around for many years, and has no specific requirements.  But it isn't so cheap.

When I tried with BG the only solar tariff was an EV one so the definition of useless.  At my age give it a couple of years & I may not even be able to drive so an EV would be a little pointless.

What specifically is the nightmare?

Have BG installed and commissioned your solar panels?

Have BG set up an export MPAN and offered you an export tariff?

Is your problem simply one of choosing an import tariff from those BG offer? Have you considered boring old Economy 7?
