Hi
Any help would be great.
My car is now un M.O.T-eed due many fail issues. The road tax runs out on 31st August and present insurance on 7th November , the most recent payment went out last week.
I am abroad on holiday until Friday at the moment so have been unable to do any car shopping as I am sure that is the way I will go as £3000 is too much on repairs.
It is parked on my driveway.
Can I ask
Do I let insurance know?
Am I able to keep insured until I make a decision on repairs or  new car?
Will it affect my NCD?
Do I need to SORN it or would scrap people do that should that be my decision?
Many thanks.

Since it's off road wait until you get back then sort it out.  You will need to SORN it before the end of the month.  I would leave the insurance intact then switch it to a new car.

You have a bit of time to decide.  You are contradicting yourself above on whether to scrap or not so make your mind up by the end of the month.

What car, age, mileage and issues is your current car?

I will have decided by the end of the month.
I just love my car that I have had for 18 years, but I know it is silly to spend so much on it.
    It is a Mazda2 Ts2 2007.
It had 6 major defects and 4 monitor and repair.
Also needs the starter motor doing.

You really need to start your own thread rather than add your question to an existing one. When you do provided some info on the sort of milage you do and your budget.

As long as you arent driving it then there is no requirement to inform the insurer etc. Naturally were it to be stolen or torched then any total loss settlement would be lower given it doesnt have a valid MOT and people will always pay less for a car with problems than one with a recently passed MOT
