Morning all from a dull Mehefinland
I knew I shouldn't have dug out my sunhat yesterdayIt's gone from blazing sun to dull and fully overcast , but still warm. There must have been some terrific gusts of wind sometime in the last few hours as my poor beans were flat on the floor, and the canes pulled out of the soil. Everything is bone dry so it may have just been that there was not enough 'stickyness' to keep them in.
Glad I didn't stay up to silly o'clock to see the Perseid meteor shower - it would have been so disappointing to have missed it due to cloud cover.
DS rang to say they had a colossal thunderstorm and downpour yesterday - not a drop here though.
Nags are being naughty - there is very little grazing in the part of the field I have allowed them - just a nibble here and there.( they are both fat so it won't hurt them) Found them the other side of the electric fence in the other bit of the field having a good old munch - they knew they shouldn't be there and did the innocent trick. By the time I got across to the barn one came galloping in, and Fairy didn't have the brains to jump the saggy bit of the fence but blundered straight through and also galloped in, huffing and puffing!! . Cue me having to repair the fence and make sure the thing was working - it is clicking now, but I'm not grabbing the fence - I've been zapped before - and it hurts!! If this dry spell carries on I might have to extend the area they can graze. I was talking to my farmer friend and he has exactly the same problem with his sheep - he is moving them from field to field to eek out what grass there is - he said its more like giving them a change of scenery at the moment!!
A few more weeks and we will be wishing it would stop raining I expect!
Local county show today - I won't be going evokes too many memories ( and its a pig to get to!)
Sorry to hear of all the various poodles ailments - hope they get better soon
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning everyone
Just finishing my breakfast and then will get my ironing out the way, before I can't be bothered!
It was a beautiful day yesterday - we weren't as hot as some of you but it got up to 28 degrees, which is very hot for the north east coast. I gardened till I got too hot then sat and read for ages...it was lovely.
Little one will be arriving soon ...we are going to an event very nearby crafts, games etc this morning. Then I'll take her down to the beach later, we'll have lunch first.
On Monday we had a trip to Edinburgh Zoo and had a brilliant day, it was busy but not as packed as I thought it would be. It was warm but cloudy, which was perfect for walking around though the steep hill up to the giraffes didn't do my knee much good. Little one loves it there...DD got her a membership when she was going to the play therapist every week in Edinburgh and they've had really good use out of it.
When we came back through Edinburgh on the bus it was heaving, crowds of people everywhere...as well as the Tattoo and the Fringe, Oasis were playing that night too.
Right I'd best make a move. Eldest DD has now moved further north in Japan and is at the coast, in a place called Saporro...it all looks so beautiful.
Oh. nearly forgot, at the zoo we listened to a talk about flamingos...did anyone know that a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance? I certainly didn't
Hope everyone has a good day x13 -
Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. Yesterday's promise of plenty of sunshine didn't materialise as it didn't appear until after lunchtime and even then it was decidedly hazy. It was warm and dry though. Today may be the day! It's already very sunny with not a cloud in sight, no breeze at all and top temps could get up to 31 deg.
Good news on the annual health review test results, with Nursie telling me my T2 diabetes is well controlled (diet only, no medication) and to carry on doing whatever it is I'm doing. I'm chuffed with that. Just the annual optician appointment - sometime in October I think - and then I'm done for another year.
I called in at the Co-op on the way home for a couple of bits including a tin of sardines as I had a 50p off member offer for tinned fish. I've been reading elsewhere there seems to be a SM shortage of sardines and mackerel with pilchards practically non-existent - I hope not, they're all "essentials" for me. Last night's tuna & sweetcorn pasta bake was much enjoyed and there's an extra portion in the freezer for another day.
I'll not be venturing outside in the heat today but will review my grocery delivery for any last minute tweaks that might be needed and I also plan to sew a new laptop cover. The old one has definitely seen better days. Tea tonight is fish fingers with mushy peas, yet more strawberries for afters. It's been a good year for British strawberries and I'm making the best of them before they're replaced by imported ones that somehow just aren't the same.
@WL - So sorry to hear you have sinusitis and hope you can get a GP appointment, sooner rather than later. I've had it just once and can clearly remember just how painful it was.
@TA - Glad you're home safe and sound and not too much damage done. Enjoy Skipton, you're right - the jobs can wait!
@Izzy - Oh dear, six pairs of trousers to take up. You're just too nice at offering to do things for people!
@mehefin - Loving the naughty nags stories.
@dp1 - Enjoy your day out with LO. A flamboyance of flamingos trips off the tongue - it's true, every day is a learning day.
Well, that's enough waffle for today so I'll send fast healing wishes for the Poodles and hugs wherever they may be needed. Stay cool if you can. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all...Just a post to say I'm taking a break from posting for a bit, no heinous reason, just feel a bit like it's becoming a chore rather than a chat, but I will still be reading
Have a good day all...

Morning all, I had a problem getting on here this morning but at last it's decided I'm still human !
It hit the dizzy heights of 32 degrees yesterday and was silly hot last night so I didn't sleep much. Today it's more overcast and a much more reasonable up to 26 degrees.
I pickled some beetroot yesterday and stewed some sad looking eating apples that were left in the fruit bowl. Today the wm is on with a clothes load plus I've thrown in my dressing gown which had a dirty sleeve, they're so wide they drag in anything and everything. I've got a large gammon joint in the slow cooker which we'll have for tea with mash and some of my beetroot.
WL hope you feel better soon.
TA glad you're home safe and sound, good luck to your DGD too.
Hope everyone has a good day and it isn't too hot for you.

Morning again - I've been busy, honestly!Yesterday my drive down to Glasgow was rather slow because of a small oil tanker keeping to 40mph but not pulling over into any parking spaces to let trapped traffic through. Even the huge logging wagon drivers are courteous and pull in. Anyway, I was still early for the car appointment and probably saved me fuel!Camelot came to collect me in her lovely new car, and we headed off for coffee and chat, not in our usual place as it was too far. We had a chatty time
then she took me back. At the garage she gave me a big flowerpot full of some of her garden produce - beetroot, onions, plums, tomatoes and potatoes. She was so generous! The drive home was glorious as the foggy start gave way to clear blue bright skies with some heat too.
I had a couple of chores to do whilst in the big town, including returning clothing to Marks which has been waiting since late April. Their system wouldn't allow a return (I had asked for one back in April) as it was outwith the return period, however a very helpful and tenacious assistant managed to sort it by doing it manually. Well done that woman. This morning he pillow stash has been culled. I had four 'spare' ones which didn't really give me a proper sleep but had been kept for no good reason. In the boot of the car they went. I put on a cool white wash, packed up a a return to Amazon and headed out. It's a beautiful morning already. The pillows, and a bag of food waste, are now at the dump. Parcel handed over at delivery office and first coffee drunk. The beetroot are in the oven roasting away and the potatoes bubbling away on the stove. I think they are destined for potato salad.I have read the thread, so many lovely things happening apart from @WL - I hope the doc helps you. Sorry you're not going to be posting @Taff, we will still be thinking of you and your OH so don't desert us for long.Hugs to all.12 -
@-taff - So sorry to read you'll not be posting for a while but I understand what you mean. Sometimes I struggle to find something to write about because my days are so ordinary but luckily I'm a good waffler! Pop back in when you're good and ready. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13

Sorry to read you're not going to be posting @-taff. I enjoy reading your comments. Sometimes, I think I waffle on too much, especially since my days are much of the same - cooking, cleaning, or hiking. Hope you return to posting soon ☺️
I picked up some Russian Caravan loose-leaf tea from the Local Pantry yesterday, and have just made a pot. Very nice 🙂12 -
Afternoon all, been busy so far with the early walk round the reservoir before it got too hot. U nfortunately Ldog couldn't get in the water as it was so low and we couldn't get past the outer walls, but he made up for it running round like a mad thing with another dog we met on the way. Back home for a shower etc and get changed for lunch out at the Italian near us with BFF, which was nice. She dropped me off after much chat - I got changed again ready to go to DGS football match later- don't envy them running round in 30 deg. We're just having a snacky tea before we go.@Taff, we'll miss you, make sure you come back after a break!Hope you get an appointment WL and feel better soon.Glad your return was sorted Gers!Izzy my ND neighbour has just paid £22 each for ssome dresses to be shortened - just sayingSounds like a good day at the zoo DP1.Naughty gee gees Mehefin :0Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
