Good morning 😊
Thank you for the start @Gers
I am home bound today, so plan on catching up with a few chores. Mostly, though, I will be in the kitchen. I’m going to make both a curry and a soup, using up my gift of the large marrow I received on Monday. I’ve also got a spatchcock chicken to go in the oven, as its use by date is today. The meat eaters can add that to their curry.
I had a lovely time at the new social gathering at the church hall. As it was held at the same location as the Local Pantry, once they had finished, they kindly offered the perishable foods for free to whoever wanted them. Mostly, they were things like ready meals, which we don’t really eat, so the others had those, but I had a few extra vegetables, which was nice. There were snacks/cakes/sandwiches at the social, but nothing vegan. They did let me bring things home for the others, and asked what things I would like to eat, so they could prepare next time. A few of us from the pantry stayed, and it was nice to chat.
It doesn’t seem as hot out as it was yesterday. I’m hoping it cools some more - not that I’m wishing summer away - but, we have a hike planned for Friday, which will take up most of the day, and it’s unshaded.
Hope you all have a good day 😊16 -
Morning allPhew what a sticky night. Managed to get a few hours under my belt though.Nothing planned today apart from a bit of housework early doors before the heat rises.Hope everyone has a good day x15

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I'm back with you after my 9 days at the van. What a treat to be typing on my laptop instead of clumsy sausage finger posting on my phone. I slept like a log every night whilst there, back in my own bed last night was a different story. Tossing and turning all night, awake more than asleep, Grr.
I stopped off for shopping on the way home so seemed to have a mountain of stuff to unpack. The washing (clothes, caravan bedding and towels etc) is now in piles upstairs waiting for the wm. The garden wasn't full of blown off roof tiles as I expected after last week's gales but there were lots of upturned pots and tubs at the back and other plants on the verge of death after the following heatwave. It all looks very neglected (which is what it has been this summer)
DGD was seen at the fracture clinic yesterday and given a date for the op to pin her ankle. Surprisingly it's not a long a wait - the 18th. Unless it's cancelled which happens a lot these days. I think she may be running her bf ragged so this will test the strength of their relationship! DD will be back from the IOW at the w/e so whether she chooses to come back home to convalesce is under debate.
As much as I could day with a day at home today I am off gallivanting with bus buddy. Doubtless Skipton again! The jobs can all wait until tomorrow! It's 3 weeks since our last trip out so we have much catching up to do. Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care in this heat. We are forecast to reach 31 deg today. Eeek! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Thanks for starting Gers
Well it was a hot one yesterday - Bdog looks much cooler with a well timed haircut. I just did indoor jobs and crafts and that was warm enough - just moving felt too much. Today should be a few degrees cooler though doubtful that’ll make any difference.Dog walk soon and DM should get her oncology treatment this afternoon so hope they’ve got the AC on! I’m making the last pair of campervan curtains - not enjoying it at all so only did the linings yesterday and will try and some more today.Hope everyone is ok and starts safe in whatever weather you’re having

Morning all
Not quite so warm here today but set to get up to mid 20’s which is more manageable, I am off to meet Matt and his mum at the day centre I think we are trying the stables today, last week was the farm and a lot of poo picking which is fine but another lad in the group shouts a lot which Matt hates so I dont think that will work for him.
Dinner tonight will be scampi chips and peas, GF one for OH and I have a shop being delivered between 8 & 9 so I hope it’s earlier rather than later as I tend to go to bed around 8.30 😂
DD I’d going to an adventure place in Turkey today zip lining etc so I’m sure they will have fun, it’s still very hot over there but the pool and ice creams are helping them to cool off.
I collected the currency yesterday so apart from packing we are all ready to go, I know roughly what I am taking so just need to pack it nearer the time.
TA nice to have you back and glad there was no damage at home xx
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning everyone another hot one I’m off out to do a cleaning job soon then it will be another lazy day it’s to hot to do much I’ve got towels on the line and my dressing gown making the most of the weather. TA enjoy your day out AA a lady I clean for asked if I knew anyone who took up trousers I said give them to me I will do them for you and bring them back next week they are only polyester she said oh well I have another five pairs there you may as well do them as well I fall for it every time you have just reminded me about them they are still in the bag I will have a look at them later. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing14

Morning, thanks Gers.
Seems as if it's going to be hot again.
Silver -Oldie haven't seen you for a few days, hope you're all right.
I slept quite well last night, so feel ok this morning. Snoozer, you're another poor sleeper then, murder isn't it. Even as a child I found I couldn't drop off easily. Now I have a similar scenario to you, either still wide awake at 3 am, or drop off fairly quickly then my eyes spring open in the very early hours and that's it. Staying asleep is as much of a problem as getting off to sleep can be, I find.
We are going into Durham this morning it's only 20 min on the bus and walking by the river will be pleasant.
It was hot yesterday, and set to be hotter today, I'm not complaining though. It's great to see the sun.
Glad your dgd is having her operation soon TA, I suppose it can't be left long in case it starts to heal with bones in the wrong position.
Thoughts to the sad and poorly people, take care folks.15 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
So hot yesterday but forecast to be a little cooler today.
Picked three cucumbers, tomatoes, a courgette and lots of runner beans, too many for me.
TA pleased your home was still in one piece
Nothing planned for today
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.15 -
Good morning
Blue skies and sun, set to rise to 32, yesterday only (!) got to 30 degrees.
Not much planned for today, except keeping cool and trying to keep BD cool. Early morning and late night walks at the moment. I'm expecting an Ama*on delivery, they usually deliver around lunchtime.
Dinner tonight will probably be another salad, lots of bits and bob's from last week to use up.
Have a good day all, take care.15 -
Morning all
Still feeling decidedly rough and have just requested a GP appointment so will see what happens. I've had to pull out of volunteering this morning; can't go back to bed as lying down just makes things worse!
Hope everyone else is ok. Will read through later.14
