Car warranty

Options
Hi. I have bought a used car from a dealer. The purchase included a six month warranty included in the purchase price. The car needed replacement parking sensors which the dealer arranged by booking into a electrical specialist workshop. I collected the vehicle and had to pay for the work £250  before I could drive the car away. The dealer now says I have to claim the money back from their third party warranty provider. Surely this can't be right.

Well that will depend if the warranty covers the replacement...

You should have told the dealer you want them to repair under the consumer rights. Sounds like they have passed it to a 3rd party as a warranty claim.
If you want to get your money back, then you will need to contact the warranty co. Given you paid the company who did the work.
But I would not hold out much hope, given how little these warranties cover & sounds like no approval granted for the repair.
So you could end up arguing with dealer & a letter before action maybe the only way to stand a chance of getting the money back.

Most of these are third party bolt on products, not a relationship with the dealer.

That'll depend on how the purchase contract for the warranty was incorporated into the overall agreement.

If it is a third party warranty then the contract is more likely to be directly between you and the company, with the dealer as an intermediary.

Time to hunt out the documentation.
