Travel insurance 30 day trip limit when group splits

Hi, my family has an annual travel insurance policy with 30 day single trip limit.
We left the UK together in July for Europe. I travelled back for work for two weeks and will be rejoining them and the whole group will be returning to the UK together at the end of Aug.
They will have spent over 30 days away, I will have spent 2x less then 30 days away.
How does this count? How to make sure all of us are continuously covered?
Do I need an extra policy for the extra days for only them? Am I covered fully because my trip was broken up?
Thanks!

AIUI YOU are insured but the rest of your party will be uninsured from day 31 onwards. I don't think it will now be possible to extend their insurance (as the trip has already begun) and neither will they be able to purchase new insurance as they are not currently in the UK.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

Note that many of these policies are not as generous with cover compared to what regular travel insurance offer but its probably better than nothing.
A trip is measured as from leaving the uk to returning to the uk and so yes you have made two trips so as long as each are under 30 days you won't need a top up policy.0 -
Thanks for the info.
Our plans changed from taking out the policy to travelling. It wasn't meant to be over 30 days.
Are there annual covers with more than 30 day individual trip limits? 30 days seems to be like a standard limitation.

Additionally there are some with a lower limit that you can extend for a single trip. Some its linked to the level of policy you buy so "essentials" may be 30 days, "gold" 45 days and "black" 60 days whereas others its a question in their sales process and is independent to level of cover.
This is where some of the aggregators fall down as they dont ask how many days of cover you want on an annual and may show the minimum option and dont indicate longer options are available.1
