Advice/help with change of hours second job

Tell that to a junior doctor or a newly qualified solicitor, accountant etc working on a training contract for a big firm!Emmia said:
15 + 37 = 52hrs a week. I'm not sure the OP will have much time for rest and recharging.Anythingbutbeige said:
The second job is still 15 hours - not full time.TELLIT01 said:Have you spoken to your managers at the CS job about this? Them accepting a 2nd job is one thing, but accepting you working a full time second job is very different. Working 74 hours a week is excessive in my opinion. A colleague of mine requested permission to do bar work at the weekend. They weren't allowed to work Sunday (late finish at a club) because it might affect their work performance.I'd be amazed if the CS weren't concerned about these hours.1 -
Thank you for the concern. I have done this role for nearly 18 months and actually had another at the evening in the weekend at one point. Not a brag at all, but I have worked at least 2 jobs for probably 18-20 years now so to a certain degree am very used to the long hours. I credit the multiple jobs as being the reason I have been able to progress up in roles but of course no children helps with being able to patchwork together roles. I’m always surprised when others don’t have other jobs. I’d certainly be looking for another to fill this gap when I have to resign. (All declared to employers etc).Emmia said:

Thank you to everyone who has responded.
I'm guessing the focus on my hours means there is little anyone can identify that might help my situation asked about?0 -
I think different people have different amounts of energy and the work itself can also affect how much rest is needed too. It does feel that you aren't getting much help in your actual question OP, but I have seen threads on this board in the past about terms of work being changed, it might be worth a browse.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. That's OP's decision. There are plenty of people working well in excess of 52 hours a week and living to tell the tale!Emmia said:

OP, unhappily there isn't much you can do in 'legal' terms, so it's really a case of trying to trade on all you have offered and will continue to offer to your job with the LA. In other words, how good are your negotiating skills...
Best of luck!Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
I too always had a second job as well as my demanding full time professional role. I was single in the 1980s with a mortgage and mortgage interest rates hit about 16 or 15 % so it was either that or go under. I had had a second job on top of full time job from Age 17 onwards. I needed to save up for a house deposit on a mortgage at that time. So the OP knows her own capacity best just as I did . It was very hard but upside was I had little time to spend money on my credit card.0

Sorry, my mistake. I read it as Monday to Friday, not Monday and Friday.0
