Morning all
Lovely bright day here I have got the bedding in the wm and it should dry well today, OH will remake the bed later as I hate that job 😬
DD left early this morning and will take off soon, floss she had read that it’s so hot there 🥵 she is very sensible in the sun and won’t lay out at all and uses the highest factor sun screen as she is so fair she burns very easily so she will stay in the shade and cool off in the pool.
Bbq for OH and I tonight we didn’t have the burgers yesterday so will have them, I also have some beetroot to cook so will get that goimg this morning, dd cooked the potatoes yesterday which were delicious, she par boiled them then put them in a roasting dish and crushed them and added butter and salt and pepper and then roasted them till they went crispy, I am going to do the same today but with garlic butter.
Dogs to be walked later we might go to the woods as it’s cooler there, and I need to hoover and mop the floors downstairs.
Chrisca I’m glad the op went well and hope he gets home today xx
Mehefin hope you are ok xx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning all, thanks @Gers for starting us off. Today we're promised a fine day with lots of sunshine, maybe a bit of fair weather cloud in the afternoon but no rain, a light breeze and temperatures up to 23 deg.
Yesterday I pottered around the house doing a few small jobs including making a batch of banana & chocolate chip muffins, half for the freezer and the other half for the cake tin - minus one, as a taster of course. Two storage crates emptied (contents mainly binned) that DS will take when he sorts out their garden shed. Friday's postponed admin done as well.
I've found the name of the place that takes donated tools and have bookmarked their website for future use. It's a community group called Buy Nowt that's run by volunteers and works like a lending library but with tools rather than books. Once I've finished sorting the tools, I'll drop them an email with a list of items I can donate in the hope they want at least some of them. @-taff and others with no longer needed tools: try googling "community tool hire near me" - perhaps there's something similar near you.
Nothing in particular planned for today so it will be the usual Slothful Sunday. Tea today is cottage pie with braised red cabbage.
@nan - Pleased you eventually got DH's meds but what a farce. Our GP surgery used to be a small and efficient one but amalgamated with two others a few years ago when they moved into a new medical centre. Not as good now and, like your hubby, we never get to see the same person twice - unless you want to wait even longer than normal for an appointment, that is. Communication between them and the pharmacy (in the same building) leaves a lot to be desired too.
@Chrisca - Glad to hear DH's op went well and fingers crossed he'll be home today. There's always a snorer on a ward!
@Gers - Sorry to hear the bull is back and that you didn't get to the country show. Snap, I'm using emergency Idahoan mash too for the cottage pie. Not as good as "proper" mash obviously but perfectly acceptable and definitely much better than Smash.
Hugs for those who need or want one, especially the poorly ones and their carers. Take care all, enjoy what's left of the weekend.Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Good morning all from sunny Mehefinland
Well after a couple of fraught days things are back to normal (ish) .Procedure yesterday went ok and I was back home by 6.Just have to wait for any results now. The chap doing it said everything seemed ok so hopefully that's it for now. Just dropped little brother off at nearest functioning railway station and he is going back to Crewe. It was lovely to see him (it has been a long time- years in fact)and I was glad of his support as he had been through the same thing and knew what was what. Just a shame he has started smoking again after quiting last year.
Another friend looked after the horses so that was one less thing to worry about.
Seem to be constantly eating today lol.
Some clearing up in the garden needed, and a load of washing on ,and probably a lot of use ups for tea.
Thanks for all the support from my virtual family as always. Poodles get well
Hugs and spoons as always

Good morning ☺️ (just about).
I have had a very busy few days - a visit to my mum and dad's, and a 16km hike, taking up a couple of days, then we have been in the garden all morning, trying to sort the over grown brambles, and weeds.
It's lovely and sunny out, but it started to get too hot, so I've come back inside. I will spend the afternoon relaxing, and finishing off a book.
I'm doing a roast dinner. I stopped off at Aldi yesterday, and they had reduced their joints of beef by fifty percent, so I picked up a couple of those, along with some other meat products at seventy-five per cent off. Along with the beef, I will do the usual trimmings, and I have a vegan chicken roast.
Hope you all have a good day ☺️10 -
I keep Idahoan mash here at the van. In fact just had some to top the shepherd's pie base I brought.with me! Much nicer than Smash. Cheapest place i could buy it at home was Farmfoods until they moved to bigger premises not so easy.to get to. Grr.
It's lived up to forecast today and I've had a lovely morning sat reading on the decking. Xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
The sun came and the wind dropped out so I drove up the the little cafe (which is going to close soon) for a coffee and post-lunch cake.Whilst in the village I disposed of the large amount of recycling I had somehow accumulated. Happily, the big dumpsters where empty, not the same can be said for the three glass ones which were all overflowing, there must have been a party or event in the hall.I've dug out of my car the M&S returns parcel which I was just about to hand over the day of their cyber attack. They're started returns and collections again so I need to check the order number.Re the Idahoan mash @TA, I buy it from the big river place. It's either eight or twelve packets from there but they keep well. In fact, the one I have ready is BB Jan 2024. I did a test and it's perfectly fine.My closest friend and her husband and three adult children flew across to NY yesterday, I tracked their flight online. One of the children was upgraded to business class
, probably because he has a separate ticket - he's doing a year at uni in US.
I'm now watching a Miss Marple from last night, it's a gentle viewing. So glad that you're home after your procedure @mehefin and how lovely to catch up with your brother too. What a bargain @TTB. The bull's been quiet since the early bellow @YorksLass, thank goodness. He has a little harem out with him, maybe he's worn out.8 -

Just popping in for a catch up while I have a coffee break.
@mehefin - Glad to hear your procedure went OK, fingers crossed for positive results. So pleased you had a lovely time with your brother too. And how nice to be described as "virtual family" - but I suppose that's what we are 'cos we're a caring and sharing bunch!
@Gers - Ah, if he's got a harem with him then perhaps he is worn out or maybe he's warning off anything he sees as potential competition! I like programmes of a gentle viewing nature too and this new smart TV is supplying me with plenty of those!
All this talk of Idahoan mash is making me think it will soon be time to stock up on the winter supplies again.Over the coming weeks I'll be buying an extra tin or packet or two for the emergency cupboard, especially stuff that doesn't need cooking, just in case of power cuts.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
