Cooperative Everyday Extra Linked bank account Rock and AXA

In March this year we signed up to the Co-ops Everyday Extra account, the worldwide travel insurance was appealing and with a number of pre-existing conditions, all declared we were happy to pay a supplement of £260 to secure cover.
We’ve paid the monthly fee and had no use for the policy but have recently booked a holiday October 2025. Reacquainting myself with the detail and on a friends advice I felt I should mention what I thought was a knee ‘twist’ has now been diagnosed as arthritis. It does not limit my mobility or activity, indeed I wouldn’t have booked a holiday had it been so. I rang AXA the insurance provider and was put through screening declared arthritis and my policy was immediately declined and made void.
The operator could not explain and I spent the next 2 hours passed between various numbers but could not speak to anyone able to explain further. There was no detailed questioning I could have arthritis in a finger, thumb or be riddled with it the condition was declared simply as arthritis. It does not conflict at all with my existing medical conditions.
I have complained to AXA and to Rock by email but no response. My main point is the £260 paid on annual policy that runs to March 2026.
I can and will get alternative insurance, we currently have no cover, but can anyone explain why they voided the policy and how much of the supplement should be repaid?

The Lloyds Platinum account has a list on pre existing that you don't have to report and arthritis is one of them check out the list for your other conditions If there is a condition not on the list you have to report all

The OP might want to look at switching to the Aviva travel insurance cover provided by Nationwide FlexPlus current account ?You can 'phone Aviva before deciding if the account is suitable etc., they are very helpful in my experience - 0800 0512 532.£18 monthly fee covers both joint account holders - with any additional premiums based on pre-existing medical conditions. There is now no age limit on the policy, unlike Co-op where it ends at 80th birthday.0

From my experience 1 pre existing cost £60 moved to co-op no charge0 -
The OP is being denied coverage for arthritis by AXA on Co-op deal - it would be worth checking out Aviva.0

I too have problems with this account and the travel insurance. I have a condition that almost all insurers refuse to cover. The remaining few charge into thousands. Last year this account offered me cover for an added £195, so I went ahead. This year they won't cover it at all, but I'm okay with that since they seem able to exclude it. I had tried in the past to get travel insurance elsewhere excluding this health issue but no-one would do exclusions and I tried about 6 insurers. So it looked great. I could get cover for other things from cancellation, delays, lost luggage and any remaining health issues. Not that simple! This year they refsed this health issue and also excluded the two other health issues I declared: mild asthma and osteopenia - and anything associated with these health problems. This is despite them previously offering cover for these other two for £72. I was overjoyed when I thought I'd found a solution. Now, I'm not even covered for a chest infection or a broken bone because they won't let me pay the extra for those things. I phoned but "the algorithm says they have to ignore all of them once I add the other health issue." Makes no sense to me at all.0

You should look at the Aviva travel insurance through the Nationwide Flexplus account - I know of a relative who is covered for asthma and osteopenia @ £30 additional annual cost on top of the £18 monthly bank fee.You can call them on 0800 0512 532 to go over health conditions before considering if you want the account.0
