I purchased a holiday yesterday for 2 to Spain  with Holiday Gems who work the same as On the Beach and Love Holidays.
Today Holiday Gems phoned me to say the flights have gone up £28 each and that I needed to pay a further £56 for two people.
Does that seem right because I paid the full balance of what the holiday was yesterday and the said the Ryanair flights have now risen.

What do their terms and conditions say about when things have been fully confirmed?
Did you buy it as a package directly from them, were they acting as a third party agent, is it not a package at all?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I've asked the forum team to move this to the holiday board as I can't move it for some reason, but I think the holiday board would be a batter place for responses than the ebay board.

There is nothing in their T&C's as I've checked.
I'm not sure if they are classed as third party or not, they work on the same principle as On the Beach and Love Holidays where you choose your dates and they give you a combined price of hotel and flights for your chosen day. You then pay them and then the company pays the flights and pays the hotel for you and send you the documents

Perhaps go back to them then and ask them to show you whereabouts in the terms and conditions it says that they can do this when you understood that your payment confirmed the agreed price.

A quick Google search shows its a common thing with them or emailing saying accommodation is no longer available.
  • I wonder if they actually book the Ryanair flights manually?

Their terms (section 19) does mention increasing prices in reference to airline cost changes
My company’s PTS/ATOL numbers are 6266/12759. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. ATOL numbers can be checked with the Civil Aviation Authority. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.

They are also very optimistic with their pricing!

It's strange because they had paid for the flights themselves last night then phoned me today to tell me of a price change of £28 per flight. They haven't took any money off my CC as it's showing pending!
The flights yesterday were £98 each plus bags, today they are £102 each plus bags. I do understand flight prices fluctuate but when Ryanair sent me the confirmation of the flights that Holiday Gems had paid for it was a total of £250.41 with two 10 KG bags added so when Holiday Gems bought them flights for me they had clearly not gone up £28 each. Something smells off with it.

I called holiday gems aftersales and she can't even give me a breakdown of the cost of hotel/flight/ admin because I want to know where my extra £56 has gone to.

Ryanair use dynamic pricing so the price goes up as sales are made.

So prices go up frequently, sometimes while you are booking.

I experienced the price increasing before I had finished my booking.

The price  will have increased between the time the price  was quoted and when the  booking was actually made.
