Good evening all, we just had our first child, now one month old , and
I'm confused regarding the government funded childcare.

I am working full time, and my partner is a carer for her disabled mother, receiving carers allowance.

From what I have read on the government website it's clear that we would be eligible if we were both employed, but it says that :

"You may still be eligible if your partner is working, and you are on carer’s leave or if you get any of the following:

Incapacity Benefit
Severe Disablement Allowance
Carer’s Allowance
Limited Capability for Work Benefit
contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance"

Does anyone know why it says "may be eligible" ? What are the criteria and how do we find out if we are eligible?

Thank you 😊

Scrolling further down the page shows income requirements to be eligible.  So nobody is automatically eligible due to claiming said benefits, the working parent must earn enough to be eligible.
