RTS METER SWITCH
Comments

I know that OVO did some installations of meters pre-configured in the workshop for E7 and E10, but I'm not sure how successful this was - or is, as there are still RTS systems to be replaced in no-WAN areas. I gather that using cellular comms hubs is becoming more and more widespread in parts of Scotland poorly served by LRR, so that may be the current preferred method.Scot_39 said:But surely their has to be a way - to set them up without a WAN -
I can't remember what sort of meter you've got. I think mine (Aclara SGM 1416-B) has a boost function, which just overrides the ALCS if it's off, so pushing power to the heating equipment for something like 15, 30 or 60 minutes. I don't think there's any other way of testing the ALCS, which is why we often hear of wrong timings because the only way to find out if they've been applied properly is to watch out for the on/off change when it's supposed to happen. If that's in the middle of the night, the poor installation engineer has no way of knowing whether the calendar was correctly applied. The boost function does of course allow him to test that the switch is actually working.I'm not being lazy ...
I'm just in energy-saving mode.0
