Hi,
I have just moved to a new flat. My mail is not getting through. I have posted myself letters and they never arrived. The mailbox is a joint mailbox, well....it all just gets chucked on the floor by the postman and someone (whoever passes by), might sometimes put the mail into peoples mailbox's.

Anyway, i am not getting mail.

Because  i have just moved to a new flat....i am required to send my drivers licence into DVLA and they will change the address on it and post it back to me....but my mail is very unreliable....so can i go somewhere to pick up a new licence?

(Back in 2011 this was possible, because i did it near Leeds.....but these places seem to have closed now?)

One approach would be to set up a Royal Mail Redirection, so that all your post goes to an alternative address - maybe the address of somebody you trust who lives nearby. Then you can go and collect any mail that arrives.

As well as your driving licence, that would catch things like your replacement credit/debit cards, speeding tickets, council tax bills, notices (e.g. service charge bills, ground rent bills) from your freeholder, etc...

... which could cause you problems if they were stolen or lost.

But there would be a fee to pay for the redirection.

The last few DVLA local offices closed in 2013.

I don't mourn them - my experiences of them were farcical.

No, I very much doubt that Swansea does have personal collection facilities.

But that's not really your problem. Your problem is that the people who manage your block are failing in one of their most basic duties. Kick them. Hard.

I got a new bank card recently and the envelope said - do not redirect

A few years ago I set up a PO Box with the option to collect mail from the nearest sorting office. Yes, it can be a pain having to go and collect post but at least you know it's not being picked up by someone else.

Not cheap but it did what I needed it to do.

DVLA won't accept a PO box.
