Wills

Options
My partner and I have just bought a house together after having rented for 10 years.  We have now made a Will together.  I have 2 grown up children.  My partner has no children. The process of making the Will was straight forward. The solicitor explained all aspects to us what both Wills would entail. Prior to making a Will I rang this particular solicitor (family solicitor) and spoke to them about Wills. I was informed before that it would be £250, I assumed that was each? We went ahead. I got the invoice yesterday for £802, no breakdown of costs which I understood. Seems a tad extreme? the meetings we had were no longer than 10mins x2 when we had to go in. Once at the start and the other day when we signed. Any thoughts and helpful suggestions???

Speak to the solicitor. Inform them of what you write here, ask for an explanation of the costs and your opinion that £5-600 is more what you were expecting as a result of information from (insert name), as opposed to the amount you have been invoiced for. Seek reasons for the difference.
