I was told verbally, I have a statement from an expert stating this is how long it should have lasted. I paid for it to be writing. On other websites it says it should lasted that long too. I don’t know if this is good enough or not0

I'd say 20 years is correct too. I got rid of my 2003 leather sofa in 2023 because the seating zips were broken and the velcro that held them to the frame went. The one I have now, (Habitat @ Argos and probably not the same quality) is 2 years old and I fully expect it to last 20 years. Infact I fully expect myself to be in the cemetary before the sofa! Hope you get a good outcome.1

When I purchased I was told it would last me easily up to 20 years due to it being 100% real leather. It says online and other specialists has confirmed should last 15-20 years. After 15 months it was confirmed as manufacturing faults on both sofas by their technician both have same faults. I paid over £4k for both of them. They have accepted the report but only offering partial refund based on 6 years period a customer has the rights to complain about faulty goods. I have rejected this offer as I purchased the sofas as I was told they should last alot longer than 6 years and I think the partial refund should be calculated on how long the sofas should have lasted me. Any advice? Who is right?
Have you got evidence that the seller told you it should last for 20 years?0 -

More likely, rather than it being fraud, is that its top grain or split leather, both mentioned in your article, which is where the whole skin has been cut into layers, the top can be used as leather, potentially needing reinforcing with fabric under and polymer over. If its just top then the bottom layer can be used as suede or to make bonded or if its split so even thiner and more layers then some will be used for bonded and the bottom still could be used as poorer quality suede.0
